Zorash called this morning to let us know that she was going to be late for work.  Steve could not help but tease her when she came because she is late for work almost every day.  He said, “Zorash, you almost made it to work at the same time you do every day.”

We started cutting up the fabric scraps that Meri brought me a week or so ago.  We cut between seeing the children.  I mark the scraps and Zorash cuts behind me.   This morning I noticed that she was missing many of the lines.  I realized she did not have on her glasses.  She has to have reading glasses for close work.  After she put on her glasses her cutting improved immensely!

Nazo almost has all the blocks stacked.  We were hoping that we would have at least 2,000 blocks left over for the next project.  Nazo is counting as he stacks.  He told us this morning that it looks like there will be over 3,000 blocks left.  We are excited about that; we did not want to have to stop and mold more blocks.

Mr. Iddrisu finished picking up and hauling all the rubble and pieces of cement blocks that were left when they put up the wall.  We had him pile them near the site of the next building project.  We will use them when we get ready to fill the floors on the new building.  The rubble will make the project a little cheaper because that will be gravel we don’t have to buy.

One of Zorash’s nieces is getting married.  She said that according to tradition she has to buy 2 pieces of fabric for the bride.  She said that if she does not give the fabric her brother will not give Paa Na, her daughter fabric when she gets married.  Zorash only has one daughter and her brother has 4.  I told her that she was getting ripped off and she would be ahead not to give the cloth because she would only receive 2 clothes and have to give out at least 8 clothes.  Her brothers are still young enough to have more children especially if they take 2nd and 3rd and 4th wives.  She said that it was true but she could not risk the insults that would be hurled at her if she did not follow custom.

We spent a good portion of the afternoon editing Steve’s booklet.  It is coming along nicely and will be wonderful when it is finished.  When we were home we tried to find a workbook of some sort for the women and for marriage but everything was so heavily “Americanized” that it did not really pertain to the issues here in Ghana.

Have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
