We did not get to eat lunch today until 2:30!  I was starving!  My stomach was eating my backbone!   This morning we had the by-annual meeting with the workers and the meeting went on and on!  When we were trying to explain the changes that were taking place with the taxes; the meeting got away from us and the workers launched off into politics and how the present government is killing them.  We felt sorry for Divine because his party is the one that has been in charge for the past 6 years.  I think the Child Center employees all stand together for the other party.  Steve and I don’t take sides or talk politics since we are not citizens of the country.  Timothy Niligrini and Mr. Iddrisu did not come to the meeting because they were working in their farms.  The meetings are not mandatory; the others will fill them in on what they missed.  Divine is not actually on payroll but he is a board member.

If we give the workers money when they come to a meeting they have to give us a portion of the money back so we can go to GRA and pay their gift tax so today we gave everyone a watermelon instead of a monetary gift.  They were happy with the watermelon even though they thought the whole thing was beyond ridiculous!

After the meeting was over the ladies started roasting the corn and soybeans in the new roaster.  Since they did not get to start the roasting early they had to stay late and finish cooking what had been put in the cooker.  There is still a little left to roast and they will do that tomorrow.  Instead of giving them money for staying late which is what we usually do we gave them each 1 ½ liters of cooking oil!  There were no complaints about the oil.

While Divine was here we sat and talked about the money he will need while we are gone to complete the annual paper work for the churches.  We are so happy that he has taken on the responsibility of contacting the churches and gathering information.  He saves us a lot of headaches!

Aliu, the young man that lost his leg in an auto accident several years ago came out to the mission house this afternoon.  We helped him get a new leg about a month ago; he wanted to come and thank us for the help.  We needed to get a photo of him to add to the records of those that the Child Center has helped.

Red’s wife also came by this morning so we could see his twin boys.  They are cute, fat and fine.  A couple weeks ago the boys were having some sort of stomach distress and Nazo went around the yard cutting trees and bushes to make a concoction for them to drink.  I don’t think I would trust Nazo to treat my children with local medicine!  But they don’t seem to be any worse for the treatment.

Have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
