Yesterday was our oldest son Aaron’s birthday. It is always hard to be over here and miss birthday’s and special occasions; I think they are going to wait until we get home to have his actual birthday celebration.
This morning we made tofu and turned it into soybean kabobs. Charity, our daughter told me to be sure and write down the recipe so we could make them when we come home. I know how to make them but I have never actually written down the recipe. Zorash, Amama, and Steve all helped this morning. The process is rather labor intensive so I solicited all the help I could get! Guess what we are having for supper? This batch turned out particularly delicious.
Since the ladies were helping me in the kitchen that meant Steve had to man the Child Center with only the help of Meri. They muddled through somehow without any complaints. Zorash ran down there every once in a while to lend a hand.
Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu got the other tree stump dug up. It was bigger than the first one. The stump is so big that it is going to be hard to move. Our idea was to throw it in the huge hole they dug and bury it. The termites will eventually find it. Nazo said that he wanted the log for his wife to make charcoal out of. He wanted to set the log on fire; bury it and let it smolder for the next 4 or 5 days. What is he thinking? Do I look like I want to have a yard filled with smoke for days on end? The fire pit would be right up against the mission house’s white washed fence, also the place is a stone’s throw away from a medical clinic. We would have tons of complaints if the wind changed directions and floated over to the clinic and filled the rooms full of smoke. We told Nazo that we did not care if he had the logs nor did we care if they made charcoal but he had to find a way of getting the logs back to his house and make the charcoal on his own property. We told them that if they could get several men to help them pick up the logs they could use the motor king to haul it back to Nazo’s house. We will see what they decide to do.
This afternoon we went to town to get someone to look at Steve’s Ghanaian cell phone. He has not been able to update the “What’sapp” icon which expired earlier this month. We did not have any success; he is going to have to wait until he gets to Accra to try again where there is a better connection.
The mother of the child that had to have the huge umbilical hernia repaired called this morning and they were in the bus headed to Accra. We are so happy that they have finally gone to get additional treatment.
Thanks for all you do for us! Please keep the work in your prayers.
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie
