We finally finished printing the Konkomba booklet just before lunch. Steve started punching the holes while I finished the printing. Before he could punch the holes he had to cut all the paper down so that it would fit in the folders. A good friend of ours, Jerry Reynolds, (he is not related to us) gave my dad an old paper cutter that was used in a printing office. This thing is a beast! It has a huge blade that is nicely weighted; it can slice through 3 or 4 reams of paper at one time! Steve used the cutter this morning and made short work of cutting the paper down to size. A little while ago he finished punching the holes. Hopefully after supper we will get the pages collated.
It has been terrible hot today; it rained a little bit late this afternoon which helped to cool things off. Maybe we will get more tonight.
We have been without power all day! Meri and Zorash live near the sub-station. They said that last night in the middle of the night they heard a huge blast come from the substation. They figure that is the problem. It took the electric company 2 weeks to get us a transformer; there is no telling how long it will take them to restore power on this large of a scale! Steve has gone to buy diesel; the generator has a huge appetite! We are just happy to have a generator to feed!
Amama left work early yesterday and then again today; her oldest child is in the hospital. She is not a child anymore; she is a young lady. Amama said that they were treating her for an ulcer. She was going to be discharged today. Amama had let her insurance laps so the treatment and hospital stay had to be paid out of pocket. Amama said the bill was 600 Cedis and her husband only gave her 200 Cedis; she was supposed to find the rest of the money herself. Really! The bill is more than Amama makes in a month! Steve helped her pay the rest of the bill. Some of these men are so annoying! They want to have multiple wives, Amama’s husband has 3 or 4 and they want to have lots of children to prove that they are a man but they don’t want to take care of the wives or the children! I have ranted long enough!
Have a great day!

Mom and Dad were busy working all day so I did not get to go outside and play! I am not complaining because I got to spend the whole day inside the house and I did not have to go and work in the Child Center! The Child Center is not my favorite place! There is too much competition from all those babies. The parents, especially Dad, thinks that those babies are so cute! He talks and plays with them and I must admit that I am a bit jealous of the attention they get! If the kids look at me too closely I make ugly faces at them and try to scare them away!
Mom cooks ripe plantain in butter, brown sugar and cinnamon! The sugar melts and makes a caramel sauce! They are so delicious! I think they are going to be one of my favorite foods! Dad loves them too but Mom always saves some extra for me so I can have a piece of two for a couple days! I told you that the other day when Mom was at the market she found a vendor that was selling used stuffed animals and she bought me a couple. She did not tell me that she actually bought 4! I found the bag and had a delightful time scaring myself as I dragged the animals out of the bag!
You should try the brown sugar plantain!
