Mr. Iddrisu got the bandages off his eye and he said that probably more than 300 people were there for their operation. He said that today he could see clearly and that everything was bright and he was so happy that he could see again! He is to go back 2 weeks after the surgery to have a review. He said that the team gave them lots of instructions; he said the number one thing they were not to do was to bend down or bend over. We knew that would be a problem for him because the prayers he is supposed to do multiple times a day requires standing, bending over at the waist, kneeling and touching his head to the floor. We asked him what he was doing about praying and he said that he was sitting in a chair just doing his prayers in his heart and that he was not bending down at all. He said the light seems so bright that it is making him have a headache. Steve had given him a pair of sunglasses the day before the surgery and the doctors gave him another pair. If he continues to do well I don’t think that he will mind getting the other eye done.
Nazo was the only one that came to work today because today is everyone else’s scheduled day off; the compound was pretty quiet.
This morning one of the brothers from Kpanjamba church came to the mission house to buy communion juice and bread. He said that the churches in that area were having a joint service and it was their turn to be the host. We are supposed to go to visit the church at Sakpei Sunday but the brother from Kpanjamba said that they are one of the churches that attend the joint service. Steve called Timothy to see if Sakpei still wanted us to come. They thought that we were coming to visit them last Sunday so they might not be prepared for us this Sunday. Timothy is in charge of scheduling.
We spent all morning and part of the afternoon editing the class material that Steve has been writing. There are still a few more lessons to edit. I personally thought I was going to spend the day sewing; maybe I will get to sew tomorrow.
Today was Yendi’s big market day so we went to the market about 1:00 this afternoon. We don’t like to go that early because it is so hot but Steve was afraid that it was going to rain and no one wants to get caught in the market when it starts to rain! The people go crazy darting back and forth trying to get all of their wares out of the rain! We bought a few more table clothes for the metal tables we are giving to the churches and of course we bought vegetables.
Have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
