We spent 80% of our day sitting at the computer! Boring! We were working on the annual tax returns for not only ourselves but for the employees, the Child Center and the church. We had tons of documents to fill out and bunches of stuff to download. Things would have been easier if we had not been in the brain fog that comes with the jet lag! Then on top of all that the electricity went off several times and we lost the downloads and had to start over. We also had a problem with the connection between the computer and the scanner. At one point we got an error reading that said the connection was not complete; when I was checking to see if it was plugged in completely I accidently touched the Esc button and lost everything we were scanning! Please! Then the scanner needed to be updated which took a little while. Steve decided to download a new version of the scanner and we were able to finish that part. We took a break to eat our lunch / supper around 3:00. We finally finished all we could do at 9:00 this evening. We will take the documents to GRA (the tax office) tomorrow to be sure that we filled them out correctly. Enough complaining!
We had planned on going to Tamale this morning but since it is a holiday we decided to go tomorrow. Steve called the auditor / accountant to see if the documents were ready to be signed but they are not going to be ready until Thursday. Red called this evening to see if we were still going to Tamale tomorrow because he needed to go to Tamale for something or the other. He was disappointed that we were not going because he would have enjoyed riding with us instead of riding on public transport.
Mr. Oldman, our neighbor, called to see if we had made it back to Yendi safely, he said that he saw Red going out yesterday with the van; he figured that he was going to Tamale to get us. He is such a nice guy and his children love to come to the mission house to visit us because they never go away empty handed.
Nazo has been filling in as watchman until we can hire a new one. When he came to work this evening he told Steve that some of the security lights at the Child Center were out again. We had them worked on a couple weeks ago. The electrician is having a hard time fixing the problem. He would like to put in another pole and pull the electricity off the main house but we do not want to do that because the Child Center and the main house have different meters.
Thank you for all you do for us and for the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
