Amama did not come to work today; she is not feeling well.   She got caught in the rain yesterday evening and she thinks that is what has given her a cold.  She probably has the same thing that Meri’s kids had.  Meri came back to work this morning and said that her children were feeling a little bit better.  Steve also has a cold and a cough.  Of course we can’t help but worry that it is the virus.

Zorash needs to be off next week so she is going to work late the rest of the week to make up the days she will be off.  I was glad that she was here this afternoon because she made up for Amama not being here.

Mr. Iddrisu needed extra work so he started cleaning up the property.  There are piles of rubble left from old building projects and cement blocks all over the property.  When the mason mixes cement he mixes it on the ground near the project; there is always a thin pad of cement that dries after the mixing.  We had Mr. Iddrisu break up the cement pads and put the rubble at the back of the garage where the rain off from the roof is washing away the soil.  He has several more days of work ahead of him.

Zorash finally got word from the mother of the little girl that is having the hernia repair.  They were supposed to do the repair in Tamale but they transferred them to the big hospital in Accra.  The mother said that the surgery had been done but the hospital was demanding 3,000 more Cedis (about 500 dollars) before they will discharge them to go home.  The mother is uneducated and staying in Accra is overwhelming!  The cost of everything is higher in Accra than it is here in Yendi.  The girl’s family is actively looking for money to help pay the hospital cost.  Thanks to our generous supporters we will be able to make up the difference and pay for their transportation back to Yendi.

Steve spent part of his day cutting up the wood that the tree cutter cut out on Saturday.  It will make nice firewood for the workers.  This tree is much harder than the mango trees.  It rained last night and it is raining right now.  The lights have been on and off all evening.

Divine, the evangelist, asked for some bandages for his little 4 ½ year old daughter.  He said that she had been bitten by a snake and they did not know what was wrong with her.  He said that when they realized it was a snake bite she was in serious condition.  It took 5 vials of Anti-snake venom medicine and one unit of blood to save her.  If they had realized it was a snake bite and taken her to the hospital straight away she would probably have only needed 1 vial.  Many of these snakes have hemotoxins in their venom and cause internal bleeding.  He said that she is doing better but there is still a sore at the bite site.

Take care and have a great day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
