Nazo did not come to work this morning.  The Ya Na, the king of Dagbon, called all the men that are associated with the palace to go and work on his farm.  I guess they were planting today.  It must be nice to have that much power.

Simeon and Mr. Iddrisu hauled gravel and dirt this morning.  This afternoon Steve took Simeon out to Kulkpeni to set some posts on the church property as a means of demarcating the land.  Not too long ago someone dumped sand on the church property and molded their cement blocks and left them to dry on a portion of the church land.  There were already a few posts and landmarks that demarcated the land but one of the cement posts had been knocked down.  The church agreed that it was time to put in a few more posts.

The ladies that work for the Child Center finished roasting the grain for the weaning mix this morning.  Zorash and I took it to the grinding mill.  The grinding mill was covered up with ladies waiting for their turn to get their grain milled.  Zorash would have loved to jump to the head of the line but I told her we were either going to wait our turn or we would come back tomorrow.  The machine was having some sort of a fault and was in the process of being fixed.  I could tell the ladies had been waiting a long time so I told them that I wanted to pay for everyone’s grinding today!  You should have seen the smiles on the ladies faces! There were  6 or 7 ladies waiting.  Many of the ladies struggle to get enough money to grind.  The grinding for all the ladies plus that for the Child Center only cost about 12 dollars.  It was money well spent!  Zorash said that the ladies would go home and tell all their friends about the good fortune that they had today!

Abduli- Ganu is a young man who lost his right leg above the knee.  He lost his leg several years ago and he had come to us and asked for help getting an artificial leg.  We promised to help him but he was not really serious about getting the leg and he never followed through with getting registered.  In 2019 he again came with an appeal for help.  By this time the cost of the leg had almost doubled.  We again promised to help but then Covid hit and everything shut down.  The hospital in Nsawam in the southern part of Ghana that makes the legs, opened up again and is now taking on new patients.  Abduli- Ganu is  serious this time about getting a leg.  He came to the Child Center this morning to talk to us and to firm up his plans.  He has to pay for the leg on the 21ndof June.  We will be in the states but thanks to your generous donations we have enough money to leave in the bank for his procedure.

Thank you for all your help.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
