The seminar got off to a slow start this morning but when we left this afternoon just before supper 350 people had been registered.  Timothy called a little while ago and said that they were going to run out of gari and wanted to know if we could buy some and bring it to them.  What!  That is the craziest thing we have ever heard of.  When they called it was already dark and the market ladies make sure they are out of the market before it gets completely dark.  We told them we had no way of buying gari this late.  Timothy said that he was going to check with the church members and see if anyone had some in their pantry that they would be willing to sell.  If they can find some we will either replace it or pay for it tomorrow.  If they can’t find some they will have to cook rice and serve beans and rice.

When Steve tried the P.A. system last night it did not work.  We took it to the fix-it man first thing this morning but he was not around so Steve bought a new one.  When he got to Kulkpeni with the system there was no electricity.  The electricity was off all day!  Maybe it will be back on tomorrow.  The system has a battery but it only lasts about an hour between charges.

We have always had a problem with the children at the seminar.  When the neighborhood children see the church children sitting on the tarps they like to join them and it turns into a free for all!  In the past we have had a man designated as the child control; he walks laps around the tarps and threatens the kids with a switch.  I have never seen him actually get one of the kids so it is very ineffective.  This year Steve said that he did not want to take the tarps.  If the tarps are not there the children are forced to sit on the benches surrounded by adults or to go and play.  Steve’s idea paid off!  The children did much better mixed in with the adults.

Mr. Adams thought that he had the P.A. system fixed because he put a new switch on it but when he tried to show that it was working it failed to come one.   He is going to work on it again tomorrow.  I feel certain that given enough time he will be able to figure out what is wrong with it.

Please keep the seminar in your prayers.
