Only a few ladies slept in the makeshift tents that we made yesterday evening. The guys that set up things this morning did not get the memo that we were not taking down the tarps and curtains and that we were going to roll them up to the top so they would be easy to put back down tonight. They folded them all nicely so they can put them up again tonight if they want to.
The final count of registered people was 555. This is the biggest group that we have ever had. Steve said that someone said that a few more might be coming tomorrow. That is beyond silly since the seminar is over at 10:00 tomorrow morning. We close early so that everyone has time to get back home before dark.
We ran out of meat today even though we killed 5 pigs so we went to the ice house and bought 220 pounds of frozen chicken, we also had to buy more rice; this morning we added 100 more pounds of rice, 5 more gallons of oil and another gallon of tomato paste. We also bought 10 more containers of hot chocolate mix, 5 large sachets of non dairy creamer and 25 pounds of sugar.
The people seem to be having a grand time at the seminar! Our thanks go out to those who support the evangelistic efforts.
We also ran out of seating so we loaded up the benches and chairs that we use in the Child Center and then came up to the mission house and got those chairs. Steve had the back of the pickup loaded with benches and the van was loaded with chairs. Next year we will rent more chairs and also more canopies. It was very hot today but storm clouds blew up and cooled everything down and gave us a little relief from the heat. We did not get any rain but at least it was cooler.
Zorash called a few minutes ago and told us that the child who had surgery to correct her club feet had gotten braces today; she sent us a picture of the child with her braces. Thank you so much for the money you give for the children. Without your help we could not help these children.
Hope that you had a good Thanksgiving. We actually had a pretty good Thanksgiving supper. When we came back to the house for the afternoon break I cooked chicken and cornbread dressing and cooked a squash which is similar in taste to pumpkin. Canned green beans are not to be found in Tamale but when we were in Accra we bought a few cans and I have been hoarding them to use for Thanksgiving. I made homemade cream of mushroom soup to add to the green beans and when our kids came to visit us in March they brought lots of specialty items that we cannot get in Ghana; among the things they brought was a package of the fried onions that we traditionally top a green bean casserole with. We had quite the feast even though we did not get to eat supper until 8:00 pm.
Enjoy your holiday!

Steve and Kandie
