We woke to the sound of “no electricity”. It is very strange that you can be asleep in a dark room and be woken up by the electricity going off and everything being so very quiet. I guess it is the opposite of someone being woken up by someone turning on something. Who knows why the electricity went off but it did. I could hear thunder rumbling in the distance but we had not even gotten one drop of rain when the electricity went off. Steve did not seem to care; he can sleep through anything. It was not time to get up yet but I could not go back to sleep so I found our head lamp; you know that thing that straps onto your head so you can have your hands free to do something important like fix a car. I put on the head lamp and started working on my quilt. I was cutting blocks so I did not need the sewing machine or the iron; I was happy with the head lamp. The electricity was off for an hour so by the time it came back on it was time to get up but it had started raining heavily. We did not get to go for our morning walk until the rain stopped about 10:00.
Nazo does not like to come to work if it is raining because he cannot rake the yard. I told him to come when it stopped raining and I would find something for him to do. No one expects any of the workers if it is raining. It would be impossible for them to ride their motorcycles or bicycles to work in the rain! He appeared shortly after the rain stopped this morning and we set him to filling the containers with the diaper rash ointment. Oh! What a mess he was making. The containers are small; they hold about 3 or 4 ounces. He decided that he did not want to fill the containers with the spoon; he had his whole hand in the 5 gallon bucket of Shea butter. He said that the Shea butter was too hard for the spoon and he preferred to use his hand. He had Shea butter all over the outside of the containers. I got him a rag and told him to wipe them off before he put the tops on. He was over-filling the containers which will cause us problems with leaking when the weather gets hot so he had to adjust the way he was filling them. Finally by lunch time he had used all the Shea butter.
Papa Zachariah, the night watchman came today to start harvesting the corn he planted in the front field. The corn is pitiful! His son came with him to help with the harvesting; he is about 9 or 10 years old. I took him some suckers with chewing gum insided. He was excited with the treat. I thought it might make his day go by faster if he had something to chew on.
We spent the bulk of the day again today editing the lessons. This seems like a never ending job but Steve has written 11 lessons.
Take care and please keep us and the work in your prayers.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
