We left the house at 8 am this morning to travel south into the Nanumba District to visit the congregation at Niliyuundo.  Our turn off to the bush road was 35 minutes after leaving Yendi. Before reaching the village we passed through the village of Jakpumba where another congregation of the Lord’s Church is located.  I had packed extra gifts to drop off at Jakpumba.  One of the brothers was in the building when we stopped and he came out to receive the gifts.  He thanked us on behalf of the congregation.

Niliyuundo is about 3 miles down the road from Jakpumba.  Upon our arrival we went to greet the chief.  The village landscape had changed due to the village being electrified.  Most of the big trees had been cut down; some needed to be cut while others could have remained to give shade from the sun. With that said there were piles of fire wood all around the village. Our idea was to get some wood for Timothy‘s wife. We tried to negotiate a price from one lady but a young man jumped in and raised the price sky high.  Even Timothy Niligrini said “the man had ruined the woman’s market” meaning he had raised the price astronomically.

The gifts we gave the congregation consisted of: a wooden bench, communion juice, cups, unleavened bread, pad & pen, antiseptic for hand washing, and a Konkomba Bible. I had been asked to preach so I spoke about church attendance.  There was a nice mango tree that we set under for the service.  Of course Timothy and Kandie handed out face masks before the services started.   After services closed we were asked questions as is our custom. One question was asked “why do we have a contribution every Sunday when Jesus never stated that we should?” Another question was “If Christ never condemned polygamy why does the Church of Christ condemn polygamy?”   Timothy and I love getting these questions because it gives us a chance to explain the scriptures.

Before leaving we were gifted with a large number of guinea eggs.  These eggs are costly!  As soon as we were in the truck I asked Timothy if he had an old hen that wanted to set on eggs and he said yes. Timothy was glad to get the eggs. We have seen some chicken hens have a clutch of 15-20 young Guinea Fowl.  At the Tamale airport you can actually purchase frozen Guinea Fowl to take on the plane with you! Most people preferred Guinea Fowl over chickens.

After we got back to the house Kandie took a few minutes to show Timothy some sewing shortcuts.  Timothy loves to have Kandie help him.  He really likes the quilts she has made.

Today was Yendi’s Market day so we did some shopping.  We bought tomatoes and plantains. I also purchased a couple of church benches.  We found a few small chrome plates that can be used by the congregations for the unleavened bread. We will keep our eyes out for more so we can give them to the congregations as a gift.

That rounds up the day for us.  Please keep Aaron, our son, in your prayers as his back surgery is scheduled for tomorrow (Monday) morning.

Hope you had a great Lord’s Day as we did. May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen and Kandie Taylor
