It took us about an hour to get from our hotel to the monkey sanctuary this morning.  We were there when they opened at 8:00.  The monkey sanctuary was wonderful!  There were 2 types of monkeys; the Mona Monkeys and the Colobus Monkeys.  Only the Mona Monkeys were friendly.  Last night we bought a small backpack of bananas.  Once we got to the sanctuary we bought ½ a bucket of bananas.  I was very disappointed with the bananas we bought at the sanctuary; they were the culls; many of them were bruised and over ripe.  The guide said the monkeys don’t care; well, I cared!  He was right, the monkeys ate everything that we gave them.  There are several troops of the Mona Monkeys; some of them were friendly and some aggressive.  The friendly ones would jump up on our shoulders to get the bananas.  Steve had a pocket knife with him so we cut the bananas into small pieces so that all the monkeys had a chance to get something to eat, even the aggressive ones.  This is the time of the year that monkeys have their babies; we saw lots of mothers with babies; they were so cute.  The road to the sanctuary was awful but it was well worth it!

As soon as we left the sanctuary we headed to Mole game reserve.  We got here at 2:30; we had enough time to get checked in and our luggage unloaded before it was time for the afternoon safari.  We did not know how the road would be so we were not sure that we would get to Mole in time for the afternoon safari; we were pleased that we did.  We got lots of good pictures of elephants; we saw 3 that were grouped together and they were very photogenic!

We ordered our supper before we went on our safari so that we did not have to wait too long to eat when we got back.  We want to make an early night of it because we are getting up around 6:00in the morning to go on the morning safari.  When we get finished with the morning safari we will get breakfast and head to Yendi.  We should be in Yendi in time for Wednesday Bible study; Marcus is slated to teach the lesson.

Timothy called this afternoon and said the masons needs more cement.  Since we are in Mole we cannot send him mobile money; he is going to borrow the cement from the hardware store and we will pay him when we pass through Kulkpeni on our way to the mission house tomorrow afternoon; at least that is the plan for now.

Hope you enjoyed your day as much as we enjoyed ours!
