Our brains are fried! We have been working on the audit for the Child Center all afternoon! The only saving grace is that we have worked on it every month so most of the receipts have been entered. Today we were gathering receipts for the Withholding tax, bank statements and Social Security tax. The audit is something that the Ghana government requires each year from each company in Ghana. I don’t think they do anything with the information we send to them! The first year we did the audit we asked why we could not do it ourselves and we were told that Ghanaian people went to school for the purpose of accounting so we needed to let them do the audit so they would have job security. Please! The whole thing makes me tired!
Zorash was not here today and she will not be here again tomorrow because she had gone to a relative’s funeral in Tamale. She already made up her days by helping us after the seminar. We were actually happy that she needed the time off.
We did not get to go to worship service last night because Divine came to the mission house and said that one of the brothers at his village had collapsed and needed to be transported to the hospital. Divine has a motor king but because he did not know the man’s condition he was afraid to try to transport him in the rough motor king over rutted roads. When Steve got there he found out that the man had had a seizure. When they got to the hospital his case was so serious that 2 of the doctors stayed with him until 1:00 in the morning. The man had been out in this awful heat raising yam mounds without eating anything and drinking very little. The man was disoriented and could not speak clearly. The doctors said that the seizure and his collapse was a direct result of the hard work, heat and dehydration. He was discharged this afternoon. We saw him and he was still not moving too fast.
As soon as we finished our walk this morning we headed out to Kulkpeni with the things that the mason was going to need to start the foundation and laying of cement blocks. The truck was loaded and we intended to take them when we went for Bible study but that did not happen. Fortunately the little hardware shop had gotten a new supply of cement so we did not have to haul cement to them.
While we were at Kulkpeni we gave Timothy the money to have his motorcycle worked on. The mechanic put in new pistons and rings. We were sick when we heard that he had changed the rings because the new rings are inferior to the original ones. But the deed is done. Timothy will have to put in a new set about every 6 months from now on out!
We also ran into Tichak, the night watchman while we were in Kulkpeni; his bicycle needed to be repaired so we gave him the money for that.
Take care and have a great day!

Today was a much better day! But I got in trouble but then what’s new about that? I was having a glorious time; minding my own business when Mom got me in trouble! Amama had come to work and she left her scarf and purse on the table. If I stretched to my full length I could reach the table. The first thing I was able to reach was her veil; I pulled it to the ground and rolled myself up in it! Next I went for her purse; it was unzipped! Now, I ask you who leaves their purse lying around unzipped? They are just asking for trouble! I thoroughly enjoyed digging in her purse; she had money in it! I got one of her one Cedi notes and destroyed it! It was not very hard to do because it had seen its better days! She had a plastic bag of coins in her purse too and that was what I was going for next. I am quick! Mom was busy washing clothes but when she walked past me and saw what I was doing I was in so much trouble. She quickly went into her room and got a new Cedi note to replace the one I was pulling apart and then she went and told on me! Amama was very annoyed with me! She gathered all of her stuff together and put it up on the counter on the far side of the room. I did not realize that she had a bag of rice with tomato stew sitting on the other side of her purse or I would have gotten a bite or two of that too! The only other thing on the table was a bag of flour; I could not reach it because I was tied to the chair but I figured out that if I pulled real hard and lunged a little bit the chair would move. I got the flour bag and knocked it over; a little spilled out on the floor! Amama caught me that time and snatched the flour away from me! I don’t like flour but I tried to hurry and lick it up before Mom saw what I had done. I got most of it eaten before Mom came back but boy that flour made me thirsty! I could not get enough water to drink!
No More Messes!
Love, Skeeter
