Tonight our grandson Taylor is going to write the Yendi Notes. We thought you might like to have a fresh perspective on Ghana.
Hello this is Taylor Holladay. I’m Kandie and Steve’s oldest grandson, and this is what has happened on my first day in Ghana, West Africa. After my dad and I landed in Accra after flying from New York, we met up with Kandie and Steve and went to the hotel. After we went to the hotel and got everything unpacked, we went into the city to get some food. The traffic in Accra was terrible! There were hardly any street signs or stop lights so every road was a free for all. And all of the cars would honk the second any light turned green or there was a spot on the road big enough for the car to go through. Kandie has a saying about this. She says that if you want to know how long a nanosecond is, then just wait till the light turns green and the cars behind you start to honk. We went to a place that served pizza and chicken. Kandie got rice and chicken, I got French fries and a chicken sandwich, Steve got mushroom pizza, and my dad got cheese pizza. Apparently you could even get pizza that had fish and corn! So after we ate we went back to the hotel to sleep because the flight from Accra to Tamale was at 6:30 in the morning. We all slept fine but Kandie woke me up a couple times because she kept accidently turning on my light.
At 6:30 we flew to Tamale and then got our luggage. Red, our driver, drove us to Mole, which is a Game reserve. After we got unpacked we went on the noon safari. It was super hot, but it was worth it. We saw elephants, monkeys, antelope, and warthogs. There was a water hole that we walked to so we could see other elephants. When we were walking back to the car a snake fell out of the tree at my feet. It was a small snake, with a very interesting pattern on its back. As soon as it saw us it quickly ran away. But instead of slithering away, it jumped away! I had never seen a snake do that before.
Well now we are all at the hotel in Mole and getting some rest. Tomorrow we will head to Tamale and get the formula for the babies and head to the mission house. I hope you have enjoyed this letter from the Yendi Notes. We want to thank you for your prayers and support.
Love, the Taylors and Holladays
