Steve had to refer a little baby to the hospital today.  When the baby was born it weighed 2.5 kilo and today, 2 months later, the baby only weighed 2.0 kilos.  The mother said that she had breast milk but that she could not get the baby to suck well.  She had brought the baby’s weighing book and Steve noticed that when the baby was born he had birth asphyxia.  Steve suspects that the baby’s problems might be caused by a mental deficit.

Meri said that she is going to Tamale to the hospital tomorrow to check on her son Aliu’s condition.  She said that he told his uncle today that he thought he could eat some rice.  If he is hungry it is a good sign.

This afternoon Steve and I went back to Kulkpeni and dug up the post they set yesterday because we realized they were not in the right position.  The ends on a couple of the posts broke when we dug them up so we re-planted them upside down.  Next time we go to Kulkpeni we will repaint the top of the posts.  We also moved one of the posts and demarcated the far back corner of the property.  Someone had already molded some cement posts and had them curing on the church property.  The things were so heavy!  They were really too heavy for 2 people to move but we moved them off the church property anyway.   The people that live around the church building have been pooping all over the church property.  They even poop on the verandas of the classrooms!  So disgusting!  If the church complains to the community they say that it is the little children that don’t know any better.  Excuse me!  We saw some “King Sized” poop that could not have possibly come out of a little child!  Enough of the disgusting stuff, we will move on to something more pleasant!

Today really was Yendi’s big market day so when we closed the Center, Amama and Zorash went with us to the market.  We did not find the piece of fabric that I was looking for but that does not mean that I did not buy fabric!  We also bought vegetables and Wagasi (a fresh cheese the Falani people make from fresh cow’s milk).  Wagasi reminds us a little bit of fresh mozzarella cheese but it does not melt.  We also saw vendors selling pan roasted termites!  Yum!

Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
