We were so excited today when we found soft chewy caramels.  They are like Kraft caramels but they have been imported from somewhere; who cares where they originated from, we are just happy that they landed in Ghana, in Yendi, and in the shop of the vendor we buy formula and baby cereal from.  Caramel apples are in our future!  What a fortunate find and right here near Halloween.  Of course we will miss the fall weather and the changing of the leaves because Ghana only has two seasons, “Hot and Wet” and “Hot and Dry”.  Most of the trees drop leaves all year round except for the teak trees; soon they will all be bare.

The 25 liter containers of cooking oil that we bought yesterday for 700 Cedis each went up overnight to 800 Cedis.  We sure are happy we bought that oil for the seminar yesterday!

Red just left; he hired a motor king to bring the 4 metal windows for the church at Sakpei and to bring the ½ gates that we will use on the pavilion.  Lord willing, we plan to build a pavilion next year; we like to have everything bought and packed down so it will be ready when we are ready to start.  Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu hauled cement again this morning.  Another couple days and they will have all we need for the upcoming project.

Dawda the mason came by this afternoon so we could discuss the cost of putting up the 4 room building.  The cost of everything has increased including the day laborers’ pay and their chop money.  No matter how hard we try we always forget to figure something or the other into the equation.

This afternoon we took the beans and rice out of the freezer so we put in sachets of water so the masons and workers can have cold water to drink when they start the work tomorrow.  Dawda was not supposed to start our job until next week but he said they ran out of cement on the job that he was working on so he decided to start ours early.  They will dig and pour the foundation tomorrow.  Red said that he did not have anything to do so he was going to come and be our foreman.   He is a good egg and we like having him around to help.  At least he understands our English and usually we are on the same page as to how something should be done.  Dawda on the other hand; he and I are always butting heads!  He says we are brother and sister because we fight!  Ha!

It is almost time for Bible study so I will close for now.  Enjoy your day!

In His Service,
