We spent most of the day trying to get all the documents copied that we will need for the renewal of our resident visa. They need copies of our marriage license, birth certificates, passports, visas and non-citizen cards. That is just the stuff that they needed from us personally; they also needed stuff from the Child Center including Certificate to Commence Business, Certificate of Incorporation and Business License. We have no idea what they do with all these copies. We are hoping they will renew our visas for 2 year. Last time we had them renewed was the first time that they gave us 2 years. We may be pushing our luck but this time we are going to ask for the full 3 years. Of course we have to pay 3 times the amount of money but imagine how much we would save in plane trips back and forth to Accra. No harm in asking.
Zorash called this afternoon and another of her friends had fabric she wanted to sell. This fabric was new fabric, not scraps, and she was willing to cut the fabric. Many of the vendors will not cut the length that you need. They will only sell 6 or 12 yards. That is a whole lot of fabric especially if you are not making clothes.
The lock on the gate at the back of the property near Nazo’s house would not open. These locks are “cheap”. The rain gets in them and they rust. Most of them do not last more than a couple years. This one was so seized up that we could not even get the key out. Steve filled it with WD40 but in the end he had to use the bolt cutter and destroy the lock. Some people including Steve call the bolt cutter “The Master Key”.
Timothy Niligrini, Francis and Divine joined a bus this morning and headed to Tamale. They are also going to the seminar that is being held in Takoradi. Steve called them at 2:00pm to see if they had made it to Tamale yet and they had not. They said that they were getting close to Tamale. The bus for Takoradi left at 3:00pm; they were cutting it short to get there in time. Divine sent a text at 4:00pm and said that they were on the bus.
We will be going to Accra tomorrow afternoon. We will sleep in Accra and then fly on to Takoradi on Monday. Please pray for safe travels!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
