We got back from Jerigdo a little while ago.  This is the village that Timothy grew up in.  His brother Daniel is the church leader.  They are always happy to see us when we come.  Marcus taught the Bible class; he did a good job.  It is difficult for some to get into the swing of speaking with an interpreter but he had no problem.  After the Bible Class Daniel stood up and thanked Marcus and Evan for coming; he said that he was so grateful that they got on a plane and flew all the way from the states to get here and then they came out to teach at Jerigdo.  He said that “without God none of these things would be possible”!

Just before we left we gave them a soccer ball; they were so excited.  We told them that they could get together and have fellowship with each other over a soccer match!  Everyone had to take turns holding the soccer ball!  This ball was neon pink!  We bought them in the states; deflated them and packed them in our suitcase.  We found them on sale for 75% off; who could resist a sale like that?

This morning we went to town and bought rice to give the workers as a gift.  We were happy that Marcus was with us; he helped “heave hoe” the bags of rice into the van and then into the house.  We added oil and onions to the gift.  Evan was in charge of sorting the onions; he found several rotten ones which were disgusting!  I lost count of how many times he had to wash his hands!  Today was payday for the workers so we gave them the gift when we gave them their pay packet.  It was a good pay day!

The door on the green truck is acting up again so when we were in town we stopped and had Gomda, the mechanic work on it.  The old van has been having a difficult time starting so when he dropped off the green truck he picked up the old van.  He said that the van was not firing correctly so when Gomda brought back the green truck he picked up the van.  Later this afternoon he had it fixed.

The metal molds that the men used to mold the cement blocks were having a problem so we rented a couple so the molders could continue their work.  Steve and Evan took the others to the welder that made them and had them reworked.  Steve said they look good and strong now.

We are happy that the block molders finished molding blocks today!  That is a small portion of the project that is behind us!  In a week or so we will start the next phase of the project.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support!

The Monkeyshines

I nipped Marcus several times today!  He had to get a band aid on one of the bites!  I am very worried about Mom; I was sure that Marcus was trying to take something away from her so I nipped him.  After that I kept a close eye on him and every time he picked up something I sounded the warning and got ready to pounce.  I still love him but prefer that he does not get too close to Mom; I think he should just sit in the big chair and pet me!  I got Evan once too but he did not get a band aid because of me; he got a band aid because he cut his finger while he was opening a can of corn for supper!  That was not my fault I promise he did that all by himself!  So don’t blame me for that one!

While they were out doing the night preaching Mom found a grasshopper!  This was not a quality grasshopper!  It was the one that has the big spines on its back legs!  She found an empty water bottle to put it in.  It was still alive when she gave it to me.  I had a hard time killing it!  I tried several times but it kept hopping away!  Mom finally caught it and pulled off the spiny legs and gave it back to me.  By then it was mostly dead but it still had the wings attached.  I pulled back the wings and at its belly but I left its head and the rest of its wings; I do have my standards!!!

This afternoon Mom and Dad had to go out to Kulkpeni to pay the workers so Mom left me with Evan.  He was a very attentive baby sitter or should I say “monkey sitter”.  I had just endured a BATH so I smelled good and was in need of attention; he gave me lots of attention!

I am going to try to be sweeter tomorrow!

Love, Skeeter
