Kandie woke up with a scratchy throat this morning and then this afternoon it had turned into a full blown cold with the sniffles. This kind of virus has been going around with people complaining they have catarrh (a cold). I’m not sure that some of the people don’t have mild cases of the Covid but who knows. There isn’t any testing going on.
Timothy was kind and brought along the 12th lesson from the booklet that we had made for the church leader’s class. While on the way to the village Kandie wrote down the last page from his copy as Timothy interpreted it back into English.
We visited the church located in the village of Sakpei (pronounced Sak-pay) this morning. Its location is about 30km east of Yendi. The church building is small so when we arrived the brothers had set up the seating outside under a Nim tree. We had plenty of time to walk over and greet the chief but we just missed him . He had left to go to the bush so we gave the money to a church member who was eating outside the chief’s house. Later the brother joined us at the services.
There were 65 in attendance for the worship. The church only had preaching today. I made sure to shorten my lesson which allowed us more time after services for the question time. After the question period the men wanted to talk about their plans for a new church building. Since our last visit they have secured a piece of property and have hauled sand to the site. We had told them we would match funds if they provided their share so we gave them the money to purchase 20 bags of cement to mold blocks. I also explained we would match funds again after these blocks have been molded. They were very pleased with the money. I will again thank all of those contributors that provide money to help the Churches with these projects.
This evening at Kulkpeni I provided the scriptures to prove the apostles didn’t have the power to do the miraculous whenever they wanted. During the course of the study several people were confused about miraculous healing and the power of prayer. We had a very profitable discussion. Over here there is still a lot of confusion about the existence of miraculous gifts and the people who claim to have them; thus the reason for the study tonight.
That is it for another Lord’s Day here in Yendi. Hope you had a good day as well. God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie
