The evangelists and church leaders came in today for the monthly class. Steve is still teaching about marriage, the home, and the responsibilities of those living in the home. After they finish the home he will start talking about the church. Today 31 men attended the class not including Steve.
Timothy finished all the shirts for the men and he distributed them today. If you remember our friends the Keimigs had given money for materials and labor for each of the evangelists and church leaders to have a new shirt. The shirts were beautifully made! The Ghanaian fabric is so vibrant and the patterns so large that you would doubt that it would make a beautiful shirt but once the fabric is cut and put back together the end result is stunning. The men loved the shirts!
Steve had planned on giving each man that attended class a tire and tube last month but we missed last month’s class so he gave them out this afternoon before the men went home.
After class a couple of the men from Sobidito talked to Steve about the church building they are in the process of building. As usually happens with building projects they end up costing more than you had originally planned. Sobidito thought they had enough money to pay for the sand they needed for mortar but they ran out. Steve decided to hire Red to haul a load of sand out to the village rather than hire the motor king they used for the first load. The motor king driver cheated them.
Daniel Batoln and Nana Bekum, two of the evangelists, had not received their gift of rice, oil and tomato paste that we had given the other workers so they got the gift today. They were so excited about the food! Steve gave them a little extra money to help them with transporting the items back to their villages. It takes them several hours to get to Yendi from their villages. They said their wives would be happy to see them coming home today!
After the men had lunch I went out to take pictures of the men in their new shirts and to help distribute the tires and pay for transport. Steve had everything loaded in the old van for me but when I got in to leave I only had 1 gear and that was reverse. There was no way I was going anywhere in the old van so Nazo reloaded the stuff into the newer van; at least I had air conditioning for my drive out to Kulkpeni. I was so happy that the van failed me while I was still sitting in the compound and not out on the road somewhere!
Enjoy your day!
In HIS Service,
Steve and Kandie
