We had success! The mechanic got the air conditioning in the van fixed. The part came in on the morning bus. The mechanics started working on it at 6:00 this morning. They had it finished at noon.
While they were working on it this morning we hired a “yellow yellow”; a 3 wheel open air vehicle that they use as a taxi. We had the driver take us around from place to place to run our errands and to do some shopping. Today we were on the hunt for communion juice for the churches. At times it is very difficult to find. We checked several places before we found a piece of a box. As we were leaving Tamale we stopped to get gas and guess what they had in the little gas station store? Yes, we were able to get 3 cases! We were happy. The store also had Pringles and canned mushrooms.
After we picked up the van and went back to the hotel to collect our belongings we noticed that the van was dripping water from the seal around the sliding door. Usually it just drips from under the front of the van. We went back to the a/c mechanic to make sure that the drip hole was not plugged and that water was not pooling somewhere it should not be pooling. He pulled out the headliner and made sure that everything was draining properly. He reconnected everything and assured us that everything was draining as it should be. We had a cool ride back to Yendi.
We heard thunder in the night last night and this morning we noticed that part of Tamale got some rain. There was still water in the puddles. It did not rain at the hotel we were staying at but at least someone got some rain and it was not nearly as hot today as it was yesterday.
We were successful in finding a bed pan for Mr. Iddrisu’s mother. We will give it to him tomorrow; by the time we got back to Yendi he had already gone home for the day. We had to do some serious searching to find one. Each medical shop that we stopped at would give us a lead to another shop and then another shop. I had about decided that we were going to have to have our kids buy one and bring it in with them when they come next month.
We bought lots of vegetables this afternoon and we found a watermelon; once the watermelons appear they will be everywhere. They truck them down from the Bolgatanga area north of Tamale.
Have a great day!
