We called Red to see where the gravel was that he was supposed to be hauling out to Kulkpeni; he said he was going to start hauling it last Friday.  Evidently he had either forgotten or had not realized that we needed the gravel right away.  The masons that will mold the gravel / cement blocks are not Muslims so they will be able to work through the month-long fast of Ramadan.  Red apologized and said that he would start hauling the gravel Saturday.

Today was the monthly Church Leader’s and Evangelists’ class.  Steve gave each of the men that attended the class one of the new Konkomba Bibles.  They were very happy with the gift; it has been over 3 years since the brothers could get their hands on a Konkomba Bible.  If a church member happens to be fortunate enough to have a smartphone there is a Konkomba translation that can be downloaded on their phone.  Several of the men have the Bible on their phone but the problem comes when they are out in the village and there is no cell service.

This month 27 men attended the class; that does not count Steve.  Steve said they had a good class; today’s children’s material covered Hagar and Sarah.  They also discussed being careful to make sure that the Church of Christ you attend remains pure and to be aware that just because a church bears the name Church of Christ it does not mean they are following the New Testament correctly.

Since Steve was gone and the only worker here today was Donkey I had a large block of time to work on my quilt top.

This afternoon we went to town and picked up 16 cans of baby formula.  Zorash stopped at a little store yesterday and she spied a couple cans on the shelf.  Upon further investigation she found out that the shop owner had 16 cans.  Of course we bought all they had.  This morning before Steve went to class he called “Hero” one of Nestle’s employees and begged for help in locating several more cases of formula.  Hero passed the request on so maybe they will be able to find some in one of their other warehouses.

We had a lunch supper combination because Steve did not get back from class until 2:30 and then we headed to town to get the formula.

Take care and have a good weekend!

The Monkeyshines

Mom and I had a great day!  The compound was quiet; we had no visitors and Donkey was the only worker; he is not too much trouble and besides he feeds me so I like him a lot!

I helped Mom work on her quilt today; I grabbed her straight pins every chance I got.  I am getting better about throwing the pins down when she catches me with them but just before I give them a toss I pull the plastic head off the top!  I have to get something for all the hard work I go through to steal the pins!

I got 2 good naps today; when I get tired I climb inside Mom’s clothes and take a nap.  This is the only way I can be sure that she does not get up and leave the room while I am napping!  I have serious separation anxiety!

Mom cooked wheat berries tonight for supper.  They were delicious!  This is the first time I have eaten wheat berries.  Wheat berries are bulgar wheat that has never been cracked.  Mom cooked it like it was barley with garlic, onions, bouillon, mushrooms and a little hot pepper.  Mom said that it can also be cooked like oats and served as a breakfast cereal.  I am not sure that I would like it with sugar on it; it might rot my teeth!

There is no place in this world for a toothless monkey!
