Did you hear us shouting?? The training center is finished! The floors are poured; the handrails are in place; the porches have been plastered and the floor poured. All the tools that were used for the project have been brought from the work site to the mission house. The floor is slanting and the drain plugs have been set; the floor will drain. The extra lumber and roofing sheets have been stored for the next project and the scaffolds and wheel barrows that we rented have been returned and paid for. For the next week or so Donkey will water the floors and the apron around the foundation of the building. Now we can get on with the business of getting ready to go home for the holidays. I believe we deserve a little break! Ha!
As soon as the Child Center closed this morning Zorash and I headed to town. I lost my keys to the green truck at some point during the seminar. I think that I lost them in the market when we went to buy more food for the cooks. Steve and I retraced our steps in the market the day I lost the keys but without an interpreter it was difficult to let the vendors know what I was looking for. I wanted Zorash to go back with me today so that we could trace back and see if we could find them. We did not have any luck but at least the vendors know to be on the look for the keys. They could be anywhere by now; since I am not sure where I lost them; I could have lost them at the seminar so we made an announcement and offered a reward if they were found.
Yesterday morning Steve took the green truck to Gomda because we could hear a grinding noise when great pressure was applied to the brakes. Gomda said that it was the ball joints and that the bearings were weak. He had to send to Tamale to get the ball joints. We asked him to have a new key made for the truck. We were pleased with the way the key looked. It actually had a NISSAN symbol on it.
We have no electricity at the Child Center. Steve noticed that several bats had been fried between the electrical lines; he figures that is why we have no electricity. He called the electrician this morning and he was supposed to come out today to see if he could find the problem but he did not show up. Steve called him a few minutes ago and he promised to come Thursday .
Meri spent the morning washing stuff we brought back from the seminar. She had to use hot water and laundry detergent to get the grease off the food containers. The cooks at Kulkpeni called themselves washing the dishes and cooking utensils but they never do a good job and we know that if we store that stuff with grease and moisture on it we will have a terrible mess by next year!
Thank you for all you do!
In HIS Service,
Steve and Kandie
