We got a good rain last night, we were happy to see the rain even though it made burning mango leaves and sticks harder. Steve had some old engine oil that he used trying to get his fire going but he did not have much luck because everything was so wet. My fire did very well because when the rain came last night it turned my sticks into small pieces of charcoal. I dug under the huge pile of ash and found live coals. It only took a little encouragement for my fire to burn.
When we went to town to buy vegetables we were stopped by a long time friend, Rashid. We have known Rashid for years; he used to be the immigration officer in Tamale; he was the guy that stamped our resident visa every year. As he continued to climb the ladder of success he was transferred to Accra and worked at the airport for several years. Occasionally we would run into him when we were entering Ghana. Steve asked him where he was today; he said that he was in Tema. Steve asked him about his bars and stripes and what rank he had gotten too. He said that now he was big enough that he could be commander in charge of a whole district. He is from this area and he came to Yendi to spend his holiday.
We spent the afternoon getting ready for the monthly evangelist / church leader class. Steve is going to give the men shirts and ties. We usually give them the shirts and ties just before the seminar so they will have something new to wear but since we did not have a seminar last year he is going to give them to the men tomorrow. Steve also finished the marriage tract he has been working on and needs me to fix the margin. He also made a hand out about the steps of salvation for tomorrow’s class. It should be an interesting class.
Our grandson, Taylor, finally got his passport. They have been trying to get it for almost 2 months. Marcus, Charity’s husband is going to come help us with the work in about 3 weeks and this year he is going to bring Taylor with him. We have been on pins and needles waiting for his passport to come back. They expedited the passport but everything was backed up because of the Covid virus and people not being in the office. They still have to get a visa from the Ghanaian embassy; Charity has been in touch with them and they have a quick turnaround time for expedited visas. The lady she talked to said they were running out of the visa stickers they put in the passport so they should get it to them quickly. They over-nighted the information so hopefully it will come back quickly.
Thank you for your continued prayers.
In His service,
Steve and Kandie
