Well, after many hours we are finally in Accra!  We were a little late leaving the mission house because we were trying to tie up all the loose ends.  We left at 10:00.  Jordan and Lindsay wanted to make one last pass through Yendi so they could take a video of the road.

We arrived in Tamale a couple hours before time to check in.  We stood around a little while waiting for them to open the lane so we could get checked in only to find out that the flight had been canceled.  There was a plane full of people in the same situation as we were.  The agent said he would try and book us on the 5:00flight on standby.  They said that the 5:00 flight was full but some of the people might not show up.  We were pretty certain that there would not be seats available for 6 people.   We thought that we might have to have Red drive us to Accra; no one wanted to make that 15 hour trip.  Steve decided to check with the other airline that flies from Tamale to Accra.  They too were booked up but they said that there was a chance that they could send a larger plane.  We had to wait for a while before we knew for sure that they were sending a bigger plane.  In the meantime we talked to Red to see if they had completed the road on the west side of Ghana.  He said they had finished the road and it was a shorter way to go to Accra but if we went that way we would have to cross the river on a ferry and that if the ferry had already gone we would have to spend the night in the van.  No Thank You!

We were fortunate that Passion Air had a larger plane available and sent it to Tamale.  We were happy to get tickets for the 6:00pm flight.  We had enough time to go into town and get some lunch.  We ate at SWAD, an open air restaurant ;our lunch was lovely.  The flight out of Tamale was late but we finally got to Accra.  We have changed our plans for tomorrow because of the late hour that we got to Accra.  We are not going to go to Elmina castle or the walkover.   The girls decided that they wanted to stay in Accra and do some shopping.  I am happy with shopping.

While we were waiting for them to decide if we would be able to fly or not I tried in vain to get a refund on the tickets that we were not able to use.  We will have to go online and fill out forms and upload documents before we will get the refund.  They assured me that we would get a refund but it will take some time.

When we got to the hotel the air conditioning in the room they put Jordan and Lindsay was not working so they had to move.

We did not really have supper tonight.  Jordan and Lindsay ate the leftovers from lunch.  Steve, Faith and I went out on the street hunting and gathering.  We found gizzard kabobs and sausage kabobs, crackers, ramen noodles, several types of cookies, instant coffee, creamer and some strange candy bars.  Hum!  At least it will keep us from starving!

We are pretty well done in so I will close for now.  In case you don’t know who is writing it is Kandie.

Steve and I are going to go back home to spend a little time with my niece and nephew after the loss of their mother, Shelly Reynolds.  Keep us in your prayers as we travel.

In HIS Service,

Steve, Kandie, Jordan, Lindsay, Charity and Faith
