The Yendi Notes by: Evan Holladay

On Saturday, March 29, we had a very chilly day but it was not chilly outside; it was 108 degrees with a heat index of 120 degrees.  Today, Dad, Goosie and I sorted through suitcases full of baby clothes for the Child Center.  After that we just chilled at the compound until 1:00 o’clock.  Then Goosie and I started cooking.  We were cooking something she calls “apple crisp” and it was very delicious.

After we made the apple crisp we fried chicken.  We were going to go night preaching again but it was cancelled so we decided to spend the rest of the evening going to the market; today was market day; my first ever market day!

While we were looking for the correct shops I had a big culture shock moment.  I have never seen so many people all at once and I think if you have claustrophobia you would have a heart attack because there are so many people.  It was so tight trying to get where you need to go!  Your personal bubble was broken as soon as you got in the market.

When we got home, me and Goosie made a very southern meal of mashed potatoes and gravy, fried chicken, green beans, dough balls and apple crisp.  It was amazing! After we cleaned up the dining room and washed the dishes; that was the end of my day.

The Monkeyshines

I got in so much trouble today!  I started out really good; I sat outside with Evan and he fed me my morning bottle.  But then something snapped and I got Evan in the crease of his inner arm!  It will leave a bruise!  I got Marcus 2 times; the second time I got him on his side!  After the third time in one morning Dad had had enough and he told Mom that I had to go back to my jail cell!  Mom and I both shed a tear as I made the “walk of shame back to jail”!  It was a sad morning!  I really am trying to be good because I want to be with my people but something comes over me that I can’t seem to control!  The devil makes me do it!  Dad said that I need to spend more time in jail so there would be less chance of me biting Marcus and Evan but Marcus said that was not necessary; he could make a wide berth around me.  I know I can do better!

I had to stay in jail until after lunch when it was rest time for the family.  Mom got me out and took me to her room; I was happy to be out of jail but not happy enough to be good!  I had Dad’s cell phone cord organizer and he was afraid that I was going to tear it up.  When Mom took it away from me I turned and jumped on Dad and bit his shoulder!  I did not make him bleed but I made him holler!  I quickly apologized and snuggled under his neck and gave him monkey kisses!  No one can stay mad when they get monkey kisses!  I stayed in the bedroom with Dad while Mom and Evan cooked.

I DEMAND TO BE LET OUT ON PAROLE!

Love, Skeeter
