We traveled to the village of Mpeasum this morning to worship with the congregation. Mpeasum is located in the Nanumba North District located south of Yendi. The new road, better known as the Eastern Corridor, made the trip smoother and less time consuming . As always ,Timothy Niligrini accompanied us.
The church members had cut/dug up all the grass around the building. There are no lawn mowers around here so all the work must be done by hand using a short handle hoe. We actually worshipped under a huge Nim tree for which we were very grateful. There was a nice cool breeze blowing which made for comfortable conditions. The chief of the village wasn’t feeling well so we sent extra money with our kola to help him with some medicine.
I was asked to speak about the home and the responsibilities of the husband and wife. I figure that subject was due to Moses, one of the church leaders, having attended the monthly class last Friday. That is what we have been studying. The congregation was very pleased with the gifts that we presented to the Church.
After the question and answer period I also taught how to space having children as a way of family planning. Ghana is changing and the people are starting to see that having a large family like 7-10 children is going to make it difficult to educate and care for these children. The men especially need to hear about alternatives that follow the biblical guidelines so they can take good care of their wives and families .
We were asked to pray for a male church member who had recently been involved in a motorcycle accident. As we were walking to his house it was easy to see who he was. He had a big dressing taped to his head and a few places on his face that were healing but the black skin pigment had not returned yet. He told us he got run off the road while here in Yendi. Kandie was surprised when he didn’t know how many stitches the medical team had put in his scalp.
Another church leader brought us to his house and provided a meal of Fufu and pepper soup; quite tasty! The cooks enjoyed the money we left with them for the meal. Before we left the men presented us with a lot of yams and a rooster! You know Timothy received both items for his house after we got back to Yendi.
The children at Kulkpeni are learning the books of the New Testament. Tonight they were able to recite the books through Romans. They are required to recite the books before receiving a treat after services.
That sums up the day for us. Thank you for your support. May God bless!
In His service,
Stephen and Kandie Taylor
