We got to the hospital this morning ½ an hour before they opened. We wanted to be the first people in line but there were 3 people there ahead of us. But let me tell you this place has it going on! They know how to run people through. Even though we were early they went ahead and signed us in. It did not take long for them to do the test and we were finished by the time they were supposed to open.
We hired a small car and a driver to take us to the carvers in Aburi after we finished getting our test. We were finished so early that Steve called the driver and he was happy to come straight away and pick us up.
I had a fine time at the carvers; did I mention that “shopping” is my one weakness? I bought Christmas presents for our kids and grandkids. I filled the suitcases and the other items we put in our carry-ons. The carry-ons are pretty heavy but we usually get the opportunity to check one of them straight through to Huntsville so we don’t have to fight with it on the plane.
Zorash called this afternoon and said that the small child that needs the hernia repair is scheduled for surgery on Thursday. Zorash and Mr. Iddrisu will get the money out of the bank to help with the surgery.
The father of the 16 year old that had the gunshot wound also called and the hospital is ready to discharge him. The father said he needed more money to pay for the rest of the surgery. We offered to give them part of the money as a gift and to loan them the rest of the money but the father declined our offer and is going to look for the money elsewhere. He really just wanted us to give him all the money but that is not how we operate; we try never to pay the full bill; the family needs to do what they can, even if it is not much.
We tried to get our SIM cards re-registered this afternoon but the line was terrible. There were at least 50 people in line ahead of us. The line was moving slowly so we decided to get up early tomorrow morning and get in line before the crowd gets there. We hope that the system is now ready to re-register the SIM cards for non-citizens.
Thank you for everything.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
