We spent the day in Tamale.  We thought that we were going to make a quick trip today.  We only had 3 things to do; drop the audit off at the accountant’s office, go to the bank and buy a new battery for the van.

We needed to buy electric units for the Child Center this morning because that was the last item we put on the audit.  When we went to the electric company we found out that they could not sell us units because their computer system was having trouble not only in Yendi but it was a general problem.  We could not turn in the audit without the electrical receipt so we went back to the mission house; took the electricity off of the audit; reprinted it and headed to Tamale.

The first time we went to the auditor’s office no one was around and the door was locked so we went to the bank and sat in line for an hour or so then we went back to the auditor’s office.  This time the auditor was there but his assistant / secretary was not; he had gone to one of the nearby restaurants to get something for the auditor to eat.  We went and bought the battery.  Before we went back to the auditor’s office we decided to call Awal, the assistant, and see if he was around.  He told us that he was not in the office and would be back in about an hour.  By this time it was lunch time and we were hungry.  We went to a restaurant that is run by the Lebanese; the service is slow but the food is usually wonderful.  Most of the food was good but the sliced beef on my pita sandwich was mostly raw.  If I was in the states I would not have cared but in a third world country where the meat is not inspected, eating undercooked anything can be dangerous.  I sent the sandwich back and it took them just as long to reheat the sandwich as it did for them to make it in the first place.  It was a good thing that we were not on a time schedule.

After lunch we went back to the auditor’s office.  Awal, the assistant, had come to the office, made the copies that we needed to sign and had gone back out on another errand.  The problem is that we were not only turning in audits for the Child Center but also for the Eldership and the 50 year lease.  We sat and waited for almost an hour for Awal to come back.  But at the end of the day we were able to turn in the audits and sign the paperwork.

We did not get back to Yendi until it was almost dark.  In our absence Meri had washed the bowls that were used at the seminar; we had given her a tarp to put them out on to dry but she did not spread them out.  She stacked them inside one another.  We knew that if we left them stacked they would mold before they dried.  There are 600 + bowls.  We had just enough time to separate the bowls and spread them out on the tarps before we left for Wednesday eveningBible study.

Thank you for all the love, prayers and support.  Our friend Floyd is doing good after his surgery and seems to be getting stronger.  Please continue to pray for a speedy recovery.
