Red was supposed to haul gravel to fill the floors in the new building today but when he got to the site where they were loading the gravel he found out that overnight they had almost doubled the price.  All the dump truck drivers decided to boycott and not haul gravel today in hopes that those loading would get the message and reduce the price.  He said that he would check and see what the price was tomorrow.  I personally was happy that he could not haul gravel today because Dawda, the mason, was balking on using the rubble from past projects to fill the foundation; he said that we could save the rubble and use it on the pavilion.  What, how crazy is that?  We understand that it is harder work picking up and hauling rubble but hauling rubble was in the contract.  The way it turned out the men had no other work to do except haul rubble so I was happy!  We also had a truck of gravel left from the last building; they used that too.

Mr. Iddrisu and Nazo were hauling blocks from Dawda’s house to the job site.  Early this year when it was raining heavily and there was no masonry work to do Dawda sold us blocks so his family would have something to eat.  While they were hauling blocks Mr. Iddrisu burned out the clutch on the motor king.  Steve called Solomon the motorcycle mechanic and he came out and put in a new clutch.  He tried to give Mr. Iddrisu advice about how to drive the motor king but we know that this is not the last clutch he will burn out.

Zorash came to work to make up for the day she had taken off earlier in the week.  We worked on sorting and cleaning up the room that we keep the class material, Bible and other church related things in.  It is sort of like a second office; most of my fabric scraps are also stored there.  After we counted and labeled the class material we started folding the men’s clothes and shirts that were left over from class day.

Today was Yendi’s big market day; I am so happy that I did not need anything from the market today because it was so hot!

Since Red was not hauling gravel he came to the mission house and picked up the peanut roaster.  We had an extra motor and he is going to try to motorize the roaster for us.  Actually it would be for the ladies that have to sit and hand crank the thing that will get the most use out of it if it works.  When I suggested that we electrify the roaster the ladies said it would never work.  That is all I needed to hear to take up the challenge.  Red thinks it will work.  We might even put a sewing machine pedal on the motor so we will have more control on how fast or slow it runs.

Please keep us in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
