We were invited to visit the congregation at Nyangpala this morning. It only takes 75 minutes to drive to this village because of better roads leading there now.  It is due east of Yendi and is only approximately 15 miles from the Togo border.  We had scheduled to visit the church last month but we had to change our schedule so we made plans to go there today.

The leading man at the congregation is Brother Elijah. The congregation is made up of mostly women; there were 5 men present and that included Timothy and me; there were 12 women.  We met in their building.  Kandie and I were afraid the room was going to be hot. Luckily the building gables had not been walled up on each end of the building which allowed an adequate air stream to pass through the building.

We noticed a small girl at the feet of an older woman laying on a piece of plastic as we walked in the side door.  During the worship service the girl was sleeping but when she was awake you could tell by her facial grimacing she didn’t feel well.  After services we asked, “What was the problem with the girl”? The older woman said she had a hot body (fever) and a headache. I suspected it is malaria. The lady had brought the child to worship so the Church could pray for her. I also suspected the family didn’t have the money to get the child treated so I gave the woman some money to have the child tested for malaria and get treated. One sister, named Gifty , immediately picked up the child and headed for the local clinic.

The Church was pleased with their gifts that we gave them; bench, pad & pen, New Testament, chalk, juice, bread, and cups. We also distributed some of the knitted hats to the children.  Kandie helped the little kids to put them on their heads. They were so proud!

Brother Elijah and his wife treated us to a meal of native rice, mystery meat, tomatoes and oil for lunch. It was very good. We were also presented with a young hen and some yams which we re-gifted to Timothy upon our arrival back at the compound.

Later in the afternoon we went back to see how the building project was progressing. They now have all the lintels finished so the next item on the agenda will be to start putting on the roof in 3-4 days. We so desperately want to get the building finished before the middle of November because we have the seminar to start getting prepared for in late November.

That just about wraps things up for the day. We hope you had a good day. Please keep us in your prayers and we will pray for you all as well. Thanks for your support of the work.  May God bless!

In His service,

Stephen & Kandie Taylor
