We had a little difficulty getting the corn and soybeans ground today. First the guy had to change the blades on the grinder which took forever. We dropped the grain off at the grinding mill in order to hold our place in line; it is all first come first serve even though Zorash stopped by yesterday afternoon and told him we were coming today. While we were waiting we went to town and bought Vitamin C tablets for the Child Center and then we went in search of fabric scraps. We found a couple shops that had been saving the scraps. We did not get as many as we hoped for because the manufacturers have started making fabric that is out of some sort of synthetic material. They call the material “rubber”. It is beautiful and the color lasts a long time and it does not require ironing but it is not suitable for making quilts. We picked through the fabric and only bought the cotton pieces. I did find a bunch of scraps of lacy type material; I would like to try my hand at making a “Crazy Quilt” that has little bits of lace and embroidery.
When we got back to the grinding mill the machine was still not running. One of the ladies was still sitting there waiting so we knew that the machine had not been running while we were gone. We told the guy that we did not mind coming back later but he said that we should sit down and wait because he was almost ready to grind. The truth of the matter was that he did not want to miss out on a grinding job so we sat and waited. After putting the mill back together and beating on it with a hammer he got it working. It was not working well; we had to run our grain through 4 times before it was the consistency that we wanted. At least we now have weaning mix.
Red came by this afternoon to go over the estimate for the metal stair steps. We did not know that he had come. I told Mr. Iddrisu that he was coming and that he should ring the doorbell when he came but he did not want to disturb us in case we were resting. I was sewing. The sewing machine is in our bedroom so we have no idea when visitors come unless they ring the bell.
This afternoon we went back to town to hunt for a cell phone battery for Steve’s phone. The guy ordered them and they were supposed to come in on Monday but they did not. We stopped at Red’s house to give him more instructions on the stair steps. While we were there we noticed that he had made some large cook pot stands for outdoor cooking. We need another one to use at the seminar. Red needed to sell them and we needed to buy one so it was a good deal for both of us.
Thank you for all that you do for us and for the work.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
