I strangled on vinegar this morning and I do believe that it blistered my throat! I have had the flashlight out several times today trying to see if I can see anything; I cannot! Which is annoying; if something hurts you should be able to see some evidence of it. You ask how I strangled on vinegar. Well, I found a bottle in the pantry that I thought was vinegar but wanted to make sure; as I tasted it I sucked it down my windpipe. It was definitely vinegar! Enough complaining!
It was quiet in the compound today; Nazo was the only one here. Mr. Iddrisu took today off for his Easter holiday. It is very strange to us that the Muslims want to take off all the “Christian” holidays. We only had one visitor today. Abdulla, the guy that gets our motor vehicle inspections came by. He has high blood pressure; when he went to get his prescriptions filled they told him it would be 450 Cedis which is close to 90 US dollars! That is terrible. He was getting blood pressure medicine, Vitamin B-12, baby aspirin and some herbal supplement. Steve told him to go to another pharmacy and to leave off the herbs. Herbal supplements have taken Ghana by storm; most of them have come in with the Chinese. You know they claim they will cure everything from hair loss to heart failure! The Ghanaians are very gullible and have very little medical knowledge which makes them perfect targets.
Steve unpacked the drill sharpening tool that he had brought from the states a couple years ago. He was pleased with the way it worked! He is now the proud owner of sharp drill bits! He spent a good part of the afternoon sharpening. I made quilt blocks off and on today; I solicited Steve’s help ironing the blocks. Ironing is not one of my favorite jobs!
We still have not gotten any rain. Water is getting more and more difficult to get every day! We have a bird waterer and the birds are really enjoying being able to get a drink of water. This afternoon I took some pictures of them bathing. The larger birds were chasing off the smaller ones so we set up another waterer so they would have a better chance of getting a drink and taking a bath.
Have a great day!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
