Dawda, the mason, has finished the first phase of the building.  I think that the lumber will arrive tomorrow, it will have to all be treated against termites and bugs before the carpenters can start to build the rafters.

Red started hauling gravel for us for the pavilion today but around noon he ruined one of his tires.  He said that a new tire will cost him 3500 Cedis (about 350 dollars).  The loads of gravel he hauled today did not even cover the cost of the tire.  We gave him an advance on all the gravel he will haul for us so that he would have enough to buy the tire and pay for the loaders.  It was not a good day for Red!

This morning Steve went to town and bought the electrical supplies that the electrician will need to repair the lights and outlets at Kulkpeni inside the church building and the classroom / sleeping quarters.   On our way to Kulkpeni we had a flat tire; it was around 2:00 and it was terribly hot.  Of course there was not a patch of shade anywhere.  I felt sorry for Steve because he had to be on that hot black top road.  It did not take long to get the tire changed.  We made it to Kulkpeni and back but evidently the spare had a slow leak because later in the evening the spare was flat.  When we went to pick up the patched tire the guy showed Steve the tube and it had a huge hole; it was worthless.  Fortunately we found one in Yendi.  In the past we have had to buy tubes in Tamale.

Papa Zachariah did not come to work tonight; he is the old watchman.  He is sick and in the hospital.  He said that he was dizzy and the doctor said that his blood pressure was high.  Hopefully he will be feeling fine soon.

Thank you for all you do for us and for the work. Please keep us and the work in your prayers.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
