As Kandie said in yesterday’s Notes we spent the night in Tamale. Well, our hotel room was hot and we had to have our friend the manager come several times until he decided to move us to the room next door.  That air conditioner was cool enough that I was able to finally get to sleep. I told Kandie before we were moved to the other room I was considering going back to Yendi which is not a good idea due to armed robbers.

We were able to get away from the hotel at 6am and made it back to Yendi in time to load up the old pickup and wait for Timothy to arrive so we could drive to Niliyuundo , south of Yendi. The trip takes about 50 minutes one way.   Upon our arrival we had time to walk over to the chief’s house and greet him. I could tell the dry season is here because the sun was brutal just walking the short distance to the chief’s house. The Harmattan (dust from the Sahara Desert) helps to dull the sunlight but it was nowhere in sight this morning.

There were 65 people in attendance this morning. The people were happy to get the gifts we presented to them.  I made sure to remind the audience the seminar would be taking place on the 21st of this month. After the question and answers the men discussed their plans to make more cement gravel blocks later in the dry season. They want to wait until after they harvest their crops and start the new year so they will have matching funds to continue the work.  We assured them when they were ready we were prepared to assist them in their work. As a parting gift the church presented us with some yams and a chicken. Timothy was the beneficiary of the gift.

After we got back to the compound and Timothy had left I got out some shovels, a pick ax, and a cement molding box and loaded it in the truck ready to take out to Kulkpeni tonight. We are having  3 men make blocks for the bath houses out at Kulkpeni.

Tonight at Kulkpeni my lesson topic dealt with dreams and how the Juju people like to use bad dreams to extort money from the people. They will say something bad is going to happen if you don’t do x,y,& z but it always comes with a hefty price tag . The more people they are able to scare the more money comes into their pockets!

Have a great day. God bless!

In His service,

Stephen, Kandie , and Skeeter
