Steve went up to the hospital this afternoon to check on the 10 year old girl that had to have so much blood. She had been discharged with no real diagnosis; they said that most likely it was Malaria and complications from the Malaria. It is so annoying that the doctors don’t communicate with the patients; then maybe the doctors don’t know anything.
The baby that had the surgery to help her stand was discharged from the hospital this afternoon; the mother called Zorash and told her that they were on their way home. We told Zorash that we wanted a picture of the baby and whatever the apparatus was that we paid for. We also want to know what kind of surgery they did but we may never know. They are supposed to go back next week for a review.
Mr. Iddrisu did not come to work today. He worked too hard yesterday; he helped Donkey fill the potholes. When we called him this morning to find out if he was coming to work he said that his waist was hurting him and he could not come. This is what always happens; he works a day and then takes one or two days off. We told him he could make up today by working his next day off.
Red stopped by this afternoon to let us know that he had almost finished making all the 2,000 cement blocks that we ordered. He wanted us to go ahead and pay him for the blocks; he said they still have 189 blocks to make but they have run out of room in his compound for the blocks. The blocks are molded one by one and stacked in rows. The blocks are then watered until they get hard enough to stack which takes at least a week. Once the blocks are fully cured we will have to haul them to the mission house. The fun never ends!
When Steve was filing the monthly withholding tax he made a mistake and closed the program before he generated the tax bill with the QR Code that he needed before he can send the money to the bank to pay the bill. (Yes the new program has a QR Code if you can imagine and they expect every business big and small to know how to work the program! Give me strength!) After we had filed the taxes one of the vendors called and said that he had given us the wrong Ghana Card Number. Steve had to go to the tax office this morning to get both of the problems taken care of. While he was out he decided to go ahead and go to the bank and pay the taxes. Mr. Iddrisu usually pays the taxes but he was not here today and he has the day off tomorrow.
Thank you for all you do for us! We appreciate the help!

The world is full of wonderful things! When Dad was in Tamale he bought a couple avocados! Today was my first time to try an avocado! It was a little strange and a little mushy; the texture was a little off putting at first but the flavor was nice. I had to smell it a couple times before I gingerly licked it. After a couple licks I took a little bite. I was sitting in Dad’s lap and Mom had the avocado on a spoon. After a couple more small bites I decided that it was pretty good and I picked it up with my hand. I don’t really like to eat out of a spoon even though I know it is the way civilized people eat; I prefer to eat with my hands! Mom saved half of the avocado for me to eat tomorrow. YUM! Did you know that the avocado is one of the only fruits that have fat in them? I am just full of information.
I was minding my own business playing with a plastic bag on the floor in the Child Center this morning when Meri walked past and tried to take the bag away from me. I let everyone within earshot of me know that I was so annoyed with her! I shrieked and hollered, stomped my feet and lunged at her! I scared her and she jumped back! She had better be glad that I was on a short leash or I would have bitten her! Mom has repeatedly told her not to tease me! There must be something wrong with her and she just cannot help herself! Dad was not happy with me but Mom defended me, she said, “Meri tried to take Skeeter’s bag! She knows she is not to tease him!” She then told them that monkeys never forget and it is hard to make friends with them once they decide they do not like you.
I heard there is something called guacamole.
Love, Skeeter
