Today is our anniversary.  Steve told me that we have been married for 45 years.  It is a good thing someone is keeping track of this sort of thing because I did not know how long we have been married.  Of course I do know how to subtract so I could figure it out but why clog up my mind with such things?  Let’s get real, I did not know that our anniversary was this week.

We got up earlier than normal this morning so that we could hang razor wire while it was a little cooler.  We had razor wire left over after Red finished hanging it on the back side of the property.  Evidently he pulled the razor wire tighter than it was when we first put it up.  We had enough to put razor wire on the hog fencing that separates the mission property from our neighbors in the front to the north and to add it to the top of the chain link fence that joins the cement fence on the west side of the property.  After we finished hanging, we went to the back of the property to hang razor wire on the chain link fence that separates the Child Center from the back field.  We will have to cut wire to finish securing the razor wire.  Today we just got it hung.  It took us 3 hours to get the razor wire up.

Tomorrow or the next day will be the last day of Ramadan, the month-long fast for the Muslims.  We heard them calling for prayers all through the night for the past few nights.  We asked our friend Mr. Oldman who is a Muslim why they were crying all night.  He said that near the end of Ramadan the angel Gabriel is supposed to come down from heaven.  No one knows when he will come but it is during the last week of Ramadan.  When Gabriel comes he should find you either at prayers, finishing prayers or getting ready to pray thus the calls for prayer all night long.  They don’t want to miss Gabriel’s visit because that is when he (Gabriel) will grant the request that you make.  I don’t know if that is the practice of all Muslims all around the world but that is what they are doing here in Yendi.  Talk about noise pollution; there are hundreds of mosques in and around Yendi.

We found a basket full of wet clothes in our bathroom.  The faucet in the sink was leaking into the dirty laundry basket.  It had been leaking for a while because the water was oozing out of the laundry basket.  Steve went to town this afternoon and bought a new faucet and flex hose.  It took him 3 tries but he finally got it installed without any leaks.

A little while ago we went to town to get diesel in the truck for our trip to Waddig tomorrow.  While we were in town we stopped and bought a barbecued guinea fowl; no cooking for me tonight!  After all it is our anniversary!

Take care and have a lovely day!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
