Timothy Niligrini stopped by this afternoon; he wanted to borrow some money to pay for medical test that he was having done. Of course Steve just gave him the money. He said that he has been having some headaches and that at times his hand tries to go to sleep for no reason and sometimes he sees his fingers and his thumb jumping. He does lots of repetitive movements when he is sewing and he has been working everyday in his farm hoeing with a short handle hoe, using a pump sprayer and working too hard trying to get his crops in the ground. We figure that it is either Carpal Tunnel or a pinched nerve. We doubted that blood test would show anything. They were checking his sugar, kidneys, cholesterol, and his blood pressure. His blood pressure was a little high; he is to go back tomorrow and have it checked again to see if it is still elevated if so they might put him on blood pressure medicine but everything else checked out ok. The doctor told him to eat fruit 3 times a week and to get enough rest.
Meri said that her son Aliu was doing a little better; I think that he has started eating again but his other problems have not started to resolve themselves yet.
This afternoon we went to town to buy the extra meds we needed to leave at the mission house while we are gone. We bought a few things to bring home with us too.
This afternoon we started working on the end of the month accounts! We have to pay withholding tax on many of the items that we buy. In the past we just filled out a form and turned in the amount that we owed but now they want not only the vendor’s name but also their tax ID number. While we were in town we chased down a couple of the vendors we did not have numbers for. Really! Are we agents of the Ghana Government? Of course the vendors think we have lost our minds paying all these taxes! So far no one has refused to give us their Tax ID number. I feel like I am losing my mind!
The mother from Gnani that has 3 albino children sent a message to Zorash this morning that they were out of sunscreen. A friend of hers is coming to Yendi and will pick it up for them. It will be easier for them to pick it up at Zorash’s house than try to communicate with us.
Thank you for the love, prayers and support!
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
