Timothy Niligrini and Tichak were the first visitors this morning.  Timothy said that he had come to bring the money for the communion juice that we sent to the church at Nakpa on class day.  Once again the mobile money came in handy.  We are usually the ones that are sending the money over the phone.

Shortly after the workers arrived Mr. Iddrisu told us that the workers wanted to have a meeting with us.  We felt certain that they were going to request more money.  Everyone feels the pressure of inflation.  The cost of things in Ghana keeps going up.  The government is predicting a food shortage for Ghana next year because they did not subsidize the cost of fertilizer and many of the small farmers were not able to buy fertilizer for their corn.  The peanuts, soybean, and cow peas are doing well but corn is the staple food for Ghanaians.  Many in our area eat corn 3 times a day.  By the end of the lean season next year we might have to help the workers buy corn.

The government is also starting a program to discontinue the 1 and 2 Cedi notes.  It costs more to print the bills than they are worth.  There is some discussion about phasing out the smaller coins.  This is all due to the rising inflation.

This afternoon we went to town and ordered the medicine that we need for the Child Center and to try to find a threaded plastic nut for our hand washing station.  The nut is cracked and it is leaking around the seal.  We could not find just the nut but we found the whole faucet.  Steve is going to have to replace the whole thing.

Kyee, one of the church members at Kulkpeni, the guy that is hard of hearing that gave us a nice bag full of peanuts earlier in the year stopped by this afternoon.  He was not feeling well so he went to the clinic.  He was not able to afford the medicine they prescribed for him so Steve met him at the drug store and paid for the medicine.

We cleaned out the flower bed on the front veranda.  We transplanted as many of the plants as we had room for.  Timothy and Zorash took a few to plant at their own houses.  We had to make way for the stair steps that Red is making.  Once the stairs are in place we can plant other things in the flower bed.

Thank you for the love, prayers and support.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
