The clutch went out in the motor king this morning. The motor king is the 3 wheeled motorcycle vehicle that has a small truck bed attached to the back. Anyway Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu has been using it to haul the large stones out of the back field. Imagine they have been farming this land for the past 20 years and no one has removed the first stone. The field is strewn with rocks of all sizes from those that can easily be picked up to boulders that would take 4 men to pick up. The good thing about these stones is that they are very porous and can easily be broken with a sledge hammer. The guys needed extra money and asked for extra work so we set them to moving the stones. Of course they think it is the silliest thing they have ever heard of. The guy that comes to plow will have an easier time of it. The motor king had a full load of stones on it when the clutch went out. We helped Mr. Iddrisu off loaded the stones into the green truck and hauled them to the dump site. It was so hot out there today! The high temperature today was 106 degrees. The mechanic is going to come tomorrow and rebuild the clutch.
The ladies were able to finish cleaning the apartment and we got the sheets changed, towel put out and it is ready for Enoch when he gets here tomorrow. I think that he is only spending 1 night. Then he is traveling on to Wa about 8 hours from Yendi all on public transport.
If you remember we told you that a baby in Amama’s house died. It was Amama’s husband’s brother’s wife’s baby that died. The baby died yesterday and the mother died today. How sad. Amama is going to save her Good Friday and Easter holidays and use them later when it is time for her to cook for the funeral.
The small fridge in the tool shed that the workers use to keep their water cool died! It was here when we got here in 2001 so it has had a long life considering it was one of those travel refrigerators that can either be plugged into an outlet or a cigarette lighter in a vehicle.
We went to town and bought a used one from our friend Shiabu Adams. We plugged it up but it is not cooling very well. The little freezer part is trying to freeze but the fridge part is struggling. We will let it run over night and see how it is doing in the morning. We may be taking that one back and looking for another one tomorrow.
Keep Enoch in your prayers as he travels.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
P.S. Please keep the Lydia Sorg family in your prayers. Lydia is the mother-in-law of Kandie’s brother Paul and the mother of his wife Pam. We just received word of her passing.
