Hello,

This is Marcus writing the Yendi Notes this evening.  Taylor got to work in the Child Center for the first time since getting to the mission house.  I believe they saw thirteen babies this morning.  Normally they will see over fifty babies a day, but when Covid hit they had to shut down the Child Center and only see the babies that were orphans and on formula; it has been closed for over a year and only fully opened last week.  After our duties were complete at the Child Center, we drove to a village to check on a severely malnourished baby, Yussif, is a little boy, he is nine months old and weighs only two pounds and 2 ounces.  Steve and Kandie examined the child and brought formula and clothing for the baby.   The mother appears to have some mental disabilities and is finding it difficult to care for the child.  The child’s father is married to 2 women; the other wife has agreed to help with the feeding of Yussif.  With care and feeding the child will probably begin to put on weight and get stronger.  We had hoped to get to meet the father but he was not at home today.

I spent the morning working on payroll for the Child Center and the evangelists for the next three months while Steve and Kandie are back in the states.  They like to leave extra payroll in case something happens and they do not come back on schedule.

Today was the big market day in Yendi, so we loaded up after lunch and headed for town.  The town and market were full of people!  It’s very difficult to try and explain all the sights and smells that come with the market but I wish I had a picture of Taylor’s face when he smelled the smoked dried fish and saw the smoked cow head sitting on a table in the middle of the market!  It was priceless.

Please continue to pray for us and thank you for your love and support.  Say a special prayer for little Yussif.

In His service,

Steve, Kandie Marcus, and Taylor
