We made it safely to Kumasi. Steve downloaded google maps on his phone and it got us to within a couple miles of our hotel. Once we got close enough Steve knew where we were even though it has been years since we have been here.
We left Yendi this morning at 6:00. We got to Tamale shortly before the bank opened at 8:30 so we went to the copier repair man. He had not come to work yet but the pharmacy next to him was open. The repair man had his phone number painted over the door to his shop so we called him. He said that he was on his way to work and that we could leave the copier and both printers with the pharmacist. We explained what was wrong with each of them and left them.
We were the first people at the bank. We were in and out of the bank quicker than we ever thought possible! We were on the road headed to Kumasi by 8:30. In the middle of the afternoon the copier repair guy called and said that he had identified the problem with the copier and he needed to buy a couple parts. He gave us the price of the parts and we stopped and sent him the money through the mobile money system. He said that he had fixed the problem with the lazer printer and was getting ready to take a look at the HP printer. Hopefully he can fix that one too.
Timothy Niligrini called this afternoon to let us know he found some guys that were willing to mold gravel blocks for Kulkpeni. We need some molded so we can get at least one bath house built before the seminar. Timothy is going to see if he can rent a container to hold the water. If he can get it organized they should start molding blocks the day after tomorrow.
We got to the hotel this afternoon at about 4:30. We were pleased that we got here before dark especially since it had been so long since we had been here.
We are staying at a hotel we have never stayed at before. We have eaten at the restaurant several times but never slept here. The hotel is rather annoying. They had no rooms on the main floor or the second floor so we are on the third floor which would not be so bad except there is no elevator. Let me tell you it is a long haul up all those stairs; we will get a good cardiac workout! The room key is tied to the electricity in the room. When you leave the room everything in the room turns off; the air conditioning, the hot water heater, the refrigerator, all the outlets, everything goes dead. Do you know how quickly a room in West Africa will heat up if the air is off? The room had just begun to cool off when we went down to have supper. When we finished eating the room was as hot as if we had never had the air on! Very annoying! Now let’s talk about the bed; it is hard as a rock but that should be good for our backs! Ha! At least everything is clean and neat! The bathrooms smell nice so that is a plus!
Happy Halloween!

I don’t even know why Mom mentioned my name at the end of the Yendi Notes! I am not even with them! They got up really early this morning and left the mission house! They thought that I was still resting but I was watching everything that was going on! I have been left again! This time they are not coming back until Sunday! Do you realize that is 3 whole days and a part of another day? It will be terribly boring around here with no one to talk to!
I am suffering from “Separation Anxiety”
