We finally made it to Accra around 2:30 this afternoon. We were slated to arrive at 12:00but our flight was delayed because of thunderstorms and rain. We got to the airport in Tamale this morning at 8:30 so we had a very long day of sitting and more sitting! We were just proud that the plane flew!
Because we were so late getting into Accra we did not get to do any shopping this afternoon! Poor me! I don’t think that the guys I am traveling with were disappointed that our day did not include shopping! When we landed I had an idea of how to make things go faster; I told the guys that they should stay in the airport and wait on the luggage and I would rush out of the airport, catch a taxi and go to the Forex (foreign exchange Bureau) and change the money that we would need to pay for the Covid tests. They would hire the van, load the luggage and pick me up at the Forex. The plan worked like a charm. By the time they arrived with the van I had changed the money, collected my receipt and was standing on the side of the road waiting for them.
To save time we also hired the van and driver to take us to the clinic to get our Covid test and wait for us to finish the testing before taking us to the hotel. The clinic was on our way to the hotel.
We found out that we have to fill out a health document online and make a hard copy of it to take with us to the airport. The form cannot be filled out until after we have a negative Covid test in hand. We will not pick up our Covid results until late Saturday. The problem is that the office places and internet café that can print something off our computer are closed on Sunday. Once again we went to “Plan B”. When we got to the hotel Marcus and Taylor walked down to the fast food place and got our supper and Steve and I caught a taxi and went to a shopping mall and bought a printer, paper, ink and a printer cable. Steve got it set up this eveningand now we are ready to print out whatever documents we need.
We will leave the printer at the hotel with Ben the manager and pick it up when we come back to Ghana. Some day we will need a new printer at the mission house; now we have one in reserve. “I love it when a plan comes together.”
Thank you for all you do for us and for your prayers as we travel.
In His service,
Steve, Kandie, Marcus and Taylor
