Today for lunch I made homemade Hummus.  It was delicious but as I was making it I realized that I had opened our last container of Tahini, the sesame seed paste that is used with chickpeas to make the Hummus.  We did not realize that we only had one container left or we would have bought some when we were in Accra.  We cannot get Tahini in Tamale.  Then I spied the roasted sesame seeds that we use to sprinkle on our salad and in our stir fried dishes.  I remembered when we lived in Kumasi when I was a teenager that we used to make our own peanut butter in a blender.  I decided to try and make my own Tahini.  It worked like a charm and it was delicious.  Steve and I did a taste test and decided we like the homemade one the best.  It was darker than the store bought type because they had roasted the sesame seeds longer.  It is definitely a “must do again” thing!

Today was Friday so we did not really expect the mason to want to work because they are all Muslims and Friday to the Muslims is like Sunday is to the Christian community.  Actually Dawda said that he wanted to start work earlier than normal today.  He said that he would be here at 7:30 but the rest of the workers showed up at the regular time.  He was short a couple of masons today so they were not able to do as many sections as they have the past few days.

This afternoon we went to town and bought the part that we need to fix the lower poly tank.  While we were out we stopped and picked up the rest of the razor wire “T” post.  Red finally finished all 366 of them.  Red also finished the doors for the Church at Jagrido.  They look nice.  He went ahead and spray painted them for us so they are ready for delivery.

We have not heard from the little girl that had the hernia repair surgery but we figure that no news is good news.  The father would have contacted us if they needed additional medicine.  When we talked to him last night he said that the little girl was not happy because they would not let her have anything to eat.  She was one of the last surgeries on the docket; I am sure that made for a long miserable day for both the parents and the child.

We appreciate all you do for us!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
