It was so hot today!  The high temperature was 106 degrees with a heat index of 127 degrees!  If those were the temperatures in the states we would be receiving all sorts of heat advisories and warnings to stay indoors and keep pets and animals in the shade but no one seemed to care here in Ghana.  Everyone was going about their business as usual!  The heat index was still 120 degrees at 4:00 pm.  Presently it is trying to rain; maybe we will get a good rain that will cool things down.

This afternoon a couple of the church members from Frigmado came for a visit.  They are in the process of molding cement blocks for their church building.  Steve promised to help them when they put up the walls of the building after they got the blocks molded.  They have molded a few blocks.  The church planted soybeans last year and they are planning on selling the soybeans to buy the cement they need for the blocks.  They were hopeful that we would give them the money that we promised in advance so they could buy and pack down the cement.  We told them that was not the way we did things.  The church had to do their part to prove they were serious about building a building and after they did something we would give the portion we promised.  They have not sold the soybeans yet; they are waiting for the price to go up before they sell.  This is not the time of the year that people build anyway; this is farming season and everyone is busy and tired from working in their fields.

Amama and Zorash came back to work today so the Child Center was open again.  The mothers were slow in coming out.  Zorash said that was because today is actually an extension of the Ramadan celebration.  She said that today is the day that everyone is supposed to go and greet their in-laws.

Papa Zachariah, the older watchman, came back to work tonight so Tichak will start his 3 week leave.  It is like a revolving door; we are not sure who will show up and who is off!

The electricity is off because of the storm that is brewing.  I heard a few sprinkles of rain but mostly we are just getting wind.  Hopefully the rain will swing back around.

Amama cleaned the floors and raked the leaves in the front yard into piles.  The wind was so strong that it scattered the leaves and blew dirt into the mission house!

Thank you for everything!

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
