As soon as Zorash got here this morning we went to town to buy the corn that we will need to make the next batch of weaning mix.  She knew someone that had the yellow field corn.  We think the yellow corn makes a more beautiful weaning mix than the white corn so whenever we get the chance we buy the yellow.  The lady who was selling it was just near the mission house but after we bought the corn I told her that I hunted all over the market yesterday for fabric that was suitable for the backs of the quilts I had been making.  We decided to play hooky for the Child Center and shop for fabric instead!  We left Meri and Steve with the babies.  We checked with several people and finally were given direction to a lady that had some for sale.  We found her house and we hit “pay dirt”!  I found several pieces that I think I can use.  It is difficult to match the quilt to the backing when the quilt is not with me.  We were gone quite a long time; I told Zorash that when we got back to the house we were going to tell Steve that there was no corn in the market and that we had to roam round and round hunting for corn!  She laughed and laughed; she thought that was the funniest thing she had ever heard.  So naturally when we got back to the house I told Steve that there was no corn in the market and the road construction was terrible so that was why it took us so long.  Of course Steve was not falling for any of that!  He knew we had been out enjoying ourselves.   Meri and Amama did not believe our story either!

Amama got the corn washed and put on the tarp to dry.   The ants have been enjoying  working the corn; they have been picking up all the small bits of broken corn and bugs that are in the corn.  It is amazing that the ants would want to pick up pieces of corn.

Evidently Amama has been worrying about my dirty shoes because yesterday she told me that today she was going to wash my shoes for me because they are “too dirty”!  I told her that she could wash them if she wanted to but that I did not care that they were dirty.  I really thought that she would forget about them today but as soon as she got her this morning she said she was washing them.  When she found out we were going to the market, one of the dirtiest places on earth, she said that she would wait until we finished in the market before she washed them.  Sure enough she was waiting on the veranda when we got back to the mission house with her hand out for the shoes.  I must say that when she finished cleaning them they looked like they were brand new shoes.  I am going to wait and wear them again on Monday when she comes back to work so I can brag on them!

I fell this afternoon; I went down to the Child Center after it closed to give Zorash a little bit of money for going shopping with me; Meri’s little boy had been eating mangos and had left one of the seeds on the tile floor of the Child Center.  I stepped on the mango and went sliding; one leg went one way and the other the other way.  I did not know that I could do the splits!  I was not hurt; I only grazed my knee but Meri and Zorash were so very worried about me and kept apologizing.  I told them that it was not the first time I had fallen and it would not be the last and to stop worrying about it.

Thank you for all you do!
