We are pooped! We have been in the back field for the past 4 hours putting the poison on the lumber that the carpenter will use for the rafters for the roof on the new building. This time we used Dursban. Everyone thought that we should use the back pack sprayer and spray the boards. We did not want to spray it because Dursban is very strong; it has to be to keep the termites at bay! We knew that if we sprayed the boards a certain amount of the chemical would become airborne and we would have to walk around in the areas that were over sprayed. We decided to dip the boards instead. The Ghanaians thought we were crazy! We put a sheet of plastic in a narrow shallow ditch. We then filled it with water so we could shore up the edges so the chemical would not overflow. We then mixed in the Dursban and started dipping the boards. We had to dip about 250 boards. The last time the guys painted on the chemical and it took 2 men 3 days to paint all the boards. This was much faster but we are very tired. No supper for Steve tonight! He is going to eat a bowl of cereal.
This morning the ladies that work here continued to work on the rice. It took them all morning to steam and dry the rice. We will wait until Saturday to take the rice to the grinding mill. The birds have been enjoying the rice that has fallen on the ground.
The tax office called this morning and said that the “Tax Clearance Certificate” was ready to be picked up. Steve hurried up to the office to get it before everyone went on their lunch break. We were happy to get it.
Timothy Niligrini, the evangelist, wife Rita had their baby this afternoon. Rita was not really due yet but her blood pressure has been running high and the doctor thought that it would be better to go ahead and deliver the baby. We were not aware that Yendi was equipped to do that. Timothy is very excited because the baby is a boy. This makes number 5 for them. They only had one boy so it is nice that they have another boy.
The father of the boy that had the gun shot called this morning and the doctor has done the surgery. We are so happy for that child. Can you imagine laying there in the hospital for 11 days with a bullet in your leg and broken bones?
Francis, the evangelist from Duuni came to the mission house this morning. He brought the son of the church member that we gave a wheel chair to last month. The man has not been able to walk for about 5 years. The man sent his son to thank us for the gift and to bring us a guinea fowl and a dozen yams. What a nice gift!
Thank you for the love, prayers and support.
In His Service,
Steve and Kandie
