Today is Donkey’s day off so we were surprised when he showed up at the mission house this morning. He said that he needed to get a loan because he is trying to get his electricity reconnected. A few years ago when he electrified his house he got one of the electric company workers to get him a meter. He did not know that the guy that was “HELPING” him installed a meter that was registered to someone else. When they disconnected Donkey’s electricity for non-payment the secret was revealed. Donkey was illegally connected to the grid. When Donkey tried to trace down the “big” man that helped him he found out that the man had died. The only way Donkey can get a meter is to go to the office and follow the right channels. He has been working on this problem for months. He thinks he is getting close to getting his electricity turned back on.
The mason’s are busy molding blocks at Kulkpeni. They should finish tomorrow. We called Red and he is going to make the doors for the bathhouses for us. He stopped by this morning to get the measurements; he is going to work up an estimate for us. He said that it would not take him but a few days to get the doors made. Timothy is supposed to be getting the estimate from the mason for raising the bath houses. We are letting Timothy handle most of the arrangements this time because this is really not our project; it is Kulkpeni’s; we are just giving them the money.
Zorash and I went to town this morning and picked up the cooking oil that we bought on Saturday while we were traveling. Zorash said that the price was going up so we bought the oil for 730 Cedis for each 5 gallon container. When we picked it up this morning the lady we bought it from was lamenting the fact that she sold it to us for 730 Cedis because she said that in 2 days the price had jumped to 760 Cedis and she expected it to keep going up.
They finally took the stitches out of Zorash’s foot! She said that when they took them out the place popped open but the nurses did not seem to care. Zorash is very good about cleaning it and keeping it wrapped so she should not have any problems with it.
We need Shea butter for the Child Center; that is what we use for diaper rash. Zorash checked with her friend but she did not have any; she said that the Shea nuts are scarce this year. We called Divine and he is going to check in Kpamang and see if any of the ladies are making it. There are lots of Shea nut trees in Kpamang but I don’t know if they produced well this year.
Take care!

I did not write yesterday because I was too distraught to compose my thoughts! You know Mom and Dad snuck out of the compound in the wee hours of Thursday morning. I am still annoyed that they did not take me with them! I digress! I was so excited Sunday morning when I saw the red truck pull into the compound! Praise the Lord! I was saved! I squeaked, I jumped all over my jail cell, I pounced off the metal on the sides of the cell but they acted like they could not hear or see me! I watched as they unloaded the truck! Then I watched as they started putting stuff in the green truck! I was afraid they were fixing to leave again! My suspicions were confirmed when Timothy rode his motorcycle into the compound! Moments later they jumped in the truck and left without so much as a fare thee well! I was heartbroken! The only little piece of comfort that I had to hold onto was that I knew they were alive and well!
I had to wait for hours and hours for them to come back home! Finally around 1:30 they came home! Did they greet me? No! Did they set me free? No! Did they feed me? No! They went into the house and had lunch. Dad does not let me come in the house when they are eating because he does not want anyone to mess with his food and we both know that if I was in there I would have my hands all over his plate; I just would not be able to help myself.
Finally at about 2:30 Mom came and rescued me! I was so happy to see her and to have her in my arms again! I just snuggled up next to her neck and made my happy clicking noises! I could tell that she was happy to see me too! We went into the bedroom and she gave me a bottle and a banana after which we climbed up in the bed and I crawled under the covers and we took a nap! My little world had righted itself and life was good again. How could I not forgive them for leaving me!
Poor Pitiful Me!
