We started passing out babies’ and children’s clothes this morning in the Child Center.  When we give out clothes we have to have all hands on deck or we get swamped.  This is the first time we have tried to distribute clothes since Covid hit!  All went well this morning but word has not yet gone around alerting the mothers that we are giving away clothes.  We expect to have more mothers tomorrow and tons on Wednesday and Thursday.  The clothes are the ones that the ladies have handmade; so sweet!  I am partial to the pillowcase dresses but the little boy shorts are cute too.  We also found a bunch of flip flop shoes that we brought over.  We are giving the shoes to the older kids; of course we gave the workers flip flops for all the children that live with them.  When you have 2 and 3 wives you end up with a bunch of kids to feed and clothe.  There always seems to be some extended family sharing the living space.  We are trying our best to keep the women separated; no one is allowed to come in the Center without a mask.  We are doing our best to follow the Ghana guidelines; we don’t want to be arrested!  We added another table for Mr. Iddrisu; he is preparing the cards for all the new mothers.  Tomorrow we are going to put Nazo at the gate; he will make sure that no more than 10 women are in the Center at one time and make sure that they are all wearing masks.

I got up a little early this morning and finished up the books for the month.  Steve helped me a couple days which made the job easier.

Nazo and Mr. Iddrisu have been painting the main house.  They have used enough paint that all the workers got a plastic 3 gallon paint bucket to take home.   The paint is not supposed to be toxic; they clean the buckets and use them for everything from water to grain and peanut butter storage.  We had enough of the one gallon buckets to give each of the girls.  The guys wives will be happy to see them coming home this afternoon.

We did not know that today was Yendi’s big market day until we got out at the market to buy onions.  We did not see another person wearing a face mask!  We bought onions, a couple plastic bowls and some enamel bowls and got out as fast as we could.

We have not had rain in almost a week which means the rainy season is coming to an end.  We should still have a few more rains before they stop completely; it will start getting hotter.

Thank you for all that you do for us and for the people here in Ghana.

In His Service,

Steve and Kandie
